Loving how many people who criticized him for constantly making it all about him and being a distraction from the issues at hand are now coming out of the woodwork to pat themselves on the back, making it all about them and tell everyone that they were the ones who told us first about Mick.....what other issues?

Trigg agreed with you bg, then clarified how he spoke about Betts. They had identified him 18 months out as a strong target, in the context of analytics and how Carlton needs to improve from a football department perspective (which lead to SOS).

Mick reckons he acknowledged they tapped him up. If Mick is right someone will roll over.

Hope someone can get a recording of the press conference up.
Gee, I almost started getting some work done today.

In all fairness Sinners, wasn"t that the least you would have expected?

Of course they will need an independent selection process.

I hope so. It would be a good start.

Because Betts was a restricted FA and if Carlton ultimately had the option to keep him, it's hard for another club to tamper in the way Mick was suggesting happened.

And if you think Mick is being clever there, instead of clumsy, why even mention Trigg by name? He could have simply said Betts was gone 18 months prior and let others join the dots.

Mick might have more nous than this useless board, but that doesn't mean he's a genius.

He also said Betts played "careful" football in his final year suggesting he didn't have a dip because he was leaving.
IIRC, Eddie busted his jaw in a contest early in the season. An interesting outcome for someone being careful.

FWIW, I thought Eddie gave everything whenever he pulled on the jumper and for Malthouse to sully Eddies reputation to deflect heat from himself reinforces the shit bloke he is.

Just @#$%&! him off.

Last year in an interview (end of season) MM said that he could tell Betts had checked out early in his last season at Carlton, even though nothing was out in the open.
I wonder if that also contributed to Jeffy's drop in form and happiness?

Remember Trigg told MM off last year for his press conference behaviour: It does appear MM is happy to damage Trigg.

For all the faults of the board they actually did make genuine attempts to treat Mick with respect.

MLG was clear in saying Malthouse would coach out the year. That may have been naive, I agree, but he was clear and consistent in his stance.

He was forced to react because Mick chose to disrespect that trust by deliberately driving a wedge between himself and the CEO/Board such that they could no longer afford him the respect so many people seem to think he deserves. If some people think Mick hasn't been treated with respect that's entirely his own fault, not the club's.

That made me lol too, perhaps for the same reason as you, perhaps not.

Well if there is no truth to the Betts allegations a defamation lawsuit will be on the agenda soon enough.

Dale Thomas clearly upset. No comment about Mick's sacking accept to say he got a parking ticket so been a pretty crap day @superfooty

Dale probably feels guilty for his own contribution to demise.

HTFU

It's time Dale earned his keep.
He is costing us a bomb for little and at times no return.

He should be upset.

Same with Kreuzer, yes?

Malthouse has the luxury of 718 games to hide behind, he publicly and deliberately potted the board and CEO today--now that really does lack class--and people get upset when a few shots get fired his way?
