Ok let me get this straight..
Has this club hired and fired the last three coaches they have had before the end of their allotted contacts? Or is it four?
Are we supposed to take them seriously?
This has all the hallmarks of a dysfunctional club as I keep saying

In the history of any club, what percentage of coaches have gone out under their own terms or actually completed contracts?

You mean at crap clubs?
Where it's a passing parade of sscked coaches work crap records.. Solicited for employment by boards who hire and sack?
Many.. Many coaches...
Crap clubs always have a passing parade of coaches.. Hired and sacked early..

Think about the flag winning coaches in strong clubs during the last decade... Not that many..
Then look at the bottom of the ladder

Nah even premiership winning coaches have a use by date... This era, they call it a 'managed succession plan'

Yes but they win premierships not wooden spoons.
Maybe the club wanted Mick to resign so he never wins a spoon which was on the cards and threatening.
Maybe Mick check mated the club to have him sacked.. So he doesn't ever win a spoon.
One thing is for sure... This club is heading for number 4.

Simpson needs to take captaincy for remainder of the season.

The bloke bleeds navy blue and leads by example. A skipper that will walk the walk.

most coaches get the arse mid season. it's the law of the jungle.

two points.

1) sacking mick, i hope does not deflect from the disfunction we have at board level. there still needs to heat applied there.

and 2) as long as the process to finding a new coach is sound and somewhat lengthy.

if those requirements are met, this is can be the start of something really positive for the club. if say number two is met, but the other not, all is not lost. maybe the board are finally learning and listening to what it takes to turn the club around.

if neither are done, and we cherry pick a clarkson or bring back on old boy ... we are worse than anything st kilda dished up in the 80's and realistically it's when we fold, not if.

So maybe just maybe he outsmarted the board.. Leaves with his money.. Can't have a wooden spoon pinned on himself ... Gets the coaching record..
..and the club wins number 4.
If that's what's happened it's a masterstroke.. Don't you think!?

Nah, he's an incredibly proud person. Last thing he'd want is to be sacked, not being able to finish on his own terms. Happened at Collingwood, wanted to finish on his own terms and went to Carlton.

It would be eating him up, absolutely guaranteed

if that's what happened, everything they say about mick being all about mick is true.

he played us like a bass fiddle.

if it's true. fwiw i don't think it is. i think mick wants to turn this all around and stay here.

He was sacked at the magpies in effect.. But he has never win a spoon..
Masterful.. Played them like the fools at their own game.

Why can't he do that if they're trying to have him quit to forfeit money!?
He wants his money
He doesn't want the spoon
The club is rebuilding... In effect castrating everybody for three years

I'm tipping Triggy's old mate Neil Craig is being sounded out as caretaker coach

I guess the next 2 weeks shines the light firmly on the players and how badly they want to play under Malthouse.

I think the players are more or less over Mick the board and the club.
I bet that if you go to icon park and ask for an autograph they won't see you because they will either be on the phone or have their earphones on listening to some beat..
What's the bet they won't be signing their autograph for your kid right now

Yeah, but one of the worst tacklers I have ever seen. Walker is another one- they both play in our defence.

Some of the comments on here a laughable. Malthouse has brought this on himself, the club has remained steadfast up until the point Malthouse himself made the whole situation untenable last week trying to use the media to blowtorch board and CEO. And the players have checked out.

Pity the media don't like him.... they are the ones driving the dagger not the club.

So you separated two bad tacklers from the herd?

For the second time in four years, Mick Malthouse and his broken heart have lurched onto a collision course with their football club.

In 2011, Malthouse's struggle with his enforced termination date threatened to derail Collingwood as it worked towards back-to-back premierships. The Magpies' hierarchy, from president Eddie McGuire down, held their tongues and fought to keep the peace until the end of September. The backlash came later.

Told youse he wasn't sticking around for the spoon... He's snookered the board

Actually the board have only themselves to blame.
They don't like process and they're not into a review of their practices

Mark and his stupid rebuild kicked this off.. You have to question why nobody around the club told him it was an idiotic idea..?
Did they all equally agree with the lunacy?
Or
True to form he did this off his own bat?

Hard to know what compelled him to detail everything completely

I'm guessing he's just an idiot who lacks the capacity to think clearly.
One thing is for sure it was hard to be worse than Sticks but he is..
Also what's it say about the others when they have voted Sticks president and succeeded by this fool?
Geeez I feel relieved I'm not pumping in money for Rogers Ratten Juddy Mick Wiley Daisy Arizona ... Etc. Imagine the suitcases of cash leaving the clubs coffers?

A PHONE call from Carlton chief executive Steven Trigg to Mick Malthouse on Saturday morning has set the scene for his imminent departure.

Trigg told Malthouse that the Blues board could not tolerate another heavy loss — and they face a red-hot Sydney at the SCG on Friday night.

The call was the first direct communication from club chiefs to Malthouse this season regarding his coaching future.

“Mick is being set up to fail,” a source close to the coaching crisis told the Herald Sun on Monday.

“This is a board making determinations on a legend of the game because they can't handle the pressure caused by a decade of their own failings. They should hang their heads in shame.”
