Yep, have to agree, SOS must be given the benefit of the doubt. I'm not by any means 100% on him, as has been stated, he got gifted the cream of the crop. But I'll say give him a fair go and see how he fairs for us.

If he works out to be a good list manager, we're one huge step closer to fixing our current woes. And ANY light at the end of the tunnel is better than what our prospects are at the minute.

If SOS comes good, we gain hope and hope is what keeps us coming back. Right now, I'd dare say we have little hope when looking at our club as a whole.

On Triple M footy yesterday, one of the guys on there mentioned something about the Head Recruiter of GWS joining SOS at Carlton at the end of this year (after the Draft).
That d explain why we haven't put anyone else in this position just yet.

Paul Brodie. Was originally a scout for us in the early 00's. Credited for getting Ryan Houlihan to the club.

If he was a scout for us in the early 00s, would he be responsible for Murray Vance, Simon Wiggins, Trent Sporn etc...

They were all ShaneO inbetweeners. We're all going to grow a few inches and become KPPs.

About Brodie/Houlihan:

Quote:
As Carlton’s fifth round selection (No.73 overall) in the 1999 National AFL draft, Houlihan was a bargain basement pick-up.

“We really liked him,” the club’s then recruiting manager Shane O’Sullivan said this week, “but on the way through [to the draft] he hit a bit of a poor patch and other clubs dropped off him.

“Some people probably saw him as not hard enough, but one of our scouts Paul ‘Stuka’ Brodie was a massive fan, and while he didn’t have to twist my arm, he was really pushing for Ryan.

I was gonna make a Colin DeLutis gag, but had to Google how to spell his name. That's when I came across an old Synbad post from the mid 2000s:

"DeLutis with oithers has worked on a business plan.. thats right a business plan ... sopmething that has been viewed by the AFL and the NAB and they are impressed.... not sure if he wants to be president or not.. or just hlp out as a board member...

"Either way he has gotr some huge people onside"

So whatever happened to Col? I felt for him (but not really) at the 2002 EGM. That was the last I saw / heard of him, but Synbad's post was from 2006.

What happened at the 2002 EGM with him?

I don't think his speech to the EGM audience went down too well...

Yeah from memory he mis-read the mood. Banged on about the cost of the meeting. Think it was the meeting that Kernahan got shouted down, too. Just totally ignorant to the vibe of the room. Heady days.

Anyone else see it differently?

From what I remember, Elliot announced an "orderly" succession plan with Delutis taking over as president, as opposed to Elliot just getting the arse.

Then Delutis called the members out for white anting the club by calling the EGM and that didn't go down so well.

Bingo, it was incredibly condescending considering just how much shit that board had got us into

Heat needs to continually be applied. They cannot get away with the way the has run the club for so long.

They've got 149 signatures.

Assuming they're actually members - 49 more than what they need to force an EGM

Totally agree. Mick has been here 2 and a half years. This has been an issue for more than a decade. Board and Trigg need to go. Clearout time. Burn the place down and start again fresh.

I can give that to one guy who will get fifty signature in ten minutes..
That's no exaggeration

No doubt.

What will eventuate, rather than a democratic Melbourne Cup field of candidates wanting the best for the club, will be Adrian Gleeson vs. the bloke from the cheer squad who still wears an old AVCO jumper with #4 on it..

We should run a ticket featuring the ghost of Kenneth Luke.

That petition is meaningless. You need members with their membership number.

If it gets four figures, it becomes a meaningless article in the little paper about "thousands of disgruntled Carlton supporters backing a move to spill the board", which is then referenced in every other article from here on in.

Ripple effect....
