Sos told them he needs as many early picks as can and everybody is up for trade.

Sos is now list manager and recruiter

I don't know (or care) about how SOS got to the club, or whether the administration sees him as a "Messiah", a "panacea" a "white night" or whatever.
The fact is, SOS was at the helm of GWS' list which is proving now to be formidable. Yes, he got a zillion picks and a few of them even blind Freddy would have taken, but he was at GWS long enough that I'm sure he'll know a player when he sees one. Give the man as many picks as possible.

SOS = 1 important cog in the wheel.
All the other cogs require a independent review to see if they are really important cogs that can take our club forward .

He's the list manager though? Who is the recruiting manager?

Yep, have to agree, SOS must be given the benefit of the doubt. I'm not by any means 100% on him, as has been stated, he got gifted the cream of the crop. But I'll say give him a fair go and see how he fairs for us.

If he works out to be a good list manager, we're one huge step closer to fixing our current woes. And ANY light at the end of the tunnel is better than what our prospects are at the minute.

If SOS comes good, we gain hope and hope is what keeps us coming back. Right now, I'd dare say we have little hope when looking at our club as a whole.

Here's a little something to help the Board join the dots... http://www.footyalmanac.com.au/excerpts-from-the-big-bump-free-bumper-carlton-activity-funbook/

having SOS is a start, imo. just looking at the giants and the suns. both had the same concessions over the same time, not very far apart.

the suns are floundering and have only ever looked half decent with an in his prime Abblett running through the guts.

the giants might be a force for the next two decades (according to Maclure, they will be) while they live off their assets which will net more high draft picks and allow them to top up and stay under their cap down the road from now.

On Triple M footy yesterday, one of the guys on there mentioned something about the Head Recruiter of GWS joining SOS at Carlton at the end of this year (after the Draft).
That d explain why we haven't put anyone else in this position just yet.

I was gonna make a Colin DeLutis gag, but had to Google how to spell his name. That's when I came across an old Synbad post from the mid 2000s:

"DeLutis with oithers has worked on a business plan.. thats right a business plan ... sopmething that has been viewed by the AFL and the NAB and they are impressed.... not sure if he wants to be president or not.. or just hlp out as a board member...

"Either way he has gotr some huge people onside"

So whatever happened to Col? I felt for him (but not really) at the 2002 EGM. That was the last I saw / heard of him, but Synbad's post was from 2006.

This is prior to Pratt.
People were being sounded out.. Pratt came in and injected the club with hope.. But in the end just another false Messiah.
SoS hasn't proven anything except the fact that is you get a bunch of early picks two or three years in a row you'll get a good core of players and currency.
The afl has created a bubble for gws and GC .. Doesn't mean jack when we're talking about flags.. Culture .. Success..etc..

He was run out of the Club for siding with Jack wasn't he ?
What did he do that night at the '02 AGM that resulted in people reacting so angrily towards him ?

more evidence that on some macro level at carlton good things are happening and some process is being installed in grabbing good, competent people.

hopefully it spreads.

I don't think his speech to the EGM audience went down too well...
