Sorry, couldn't really find anywhere else to post this.

I know Mick is seriously in the Line of Fire, and the players cop their share too. But surely our general football staff need to be assessed too. Having a look at this list, i really struggle to see where we are getting value out of any of these guys.

Head of Football - Andrew McKay
What's he actually done?

[Director of Coaching & Development - Robert Wiley
There because he's Micks mate. Should shoulder just as much as the blame as mick. Was a crap player and a crap coach.

Assistant Coach – Midfield -Dean Laidley
I rate him, and maybe he's hindered because of nicks crap game plan, but a midfield of Judd, Gibbs and Murphy should be competitive.

Assistant Coach – Back Line - John Barker
Pfft - piss of, don't waste my time. Crap player and is used to loosing teams (Fitzroy, Brisbane Bears and Hawks when they were crap)

Assistant Coach – Forward Line - Brad Green
Forward line? I haven't seen a forward line all year. Yet another ex player who was used to being in a crap team (Melbourne's darkest years).

Development Coach - Mathew Capuano
Development Coach - Michael Osborne

Development??? What Development? If anything we are making players worse.

Mick's not the only one who has to go in my view.

McKay should go when Mick does.

Responsible for contracts and approving recruiting of Thomas, Jones, Tutt & Dick. Has made it harder to get players in because of over paying and giving long contracts to average players.

Appointed during Ratten regime and with no football management background. Has been a disaster and is as much to blame as anyone else.

Yup.
Which reinstates the fact that we are indeed a 'boys club'.

McKay is on the nose.
But then you need to go to football director gleeson and the board
About time there was some shared responsibility and accountability.
The president steps away from that.
How convenient!

"Macca" has been involved with the club over some dubious re-signings and decisions and his performances and role needs reviewing into the board's football director (how long has Bear been there now?).

Had a comment today that he has closely aligned himself with Mick over the past 2-3 years so may be gone as well. Hope so.

Thought Osborne came across well on Channel 7 last night. Comes from the right environment if nothing else

Quote:
Clarkson declared it is essential that clubs in a rebuild have all key officials on the same page, as occurred at Hawthorn when he took over at the end of 2004.

"What has to remain steadfast right through it all is the communications, understanding and support between the president, the CEO and the senior coach in particular, plus other key stakeholders in the game like your recruiting manager and the captain of your club and your general manager of football operations. There's about five or six key people in your program that need to be really, really tightly bound in the direction and vision that your club has got.

What if you don't have a recruiting manager?

Very Keyboard Warrior this as obviously we are unable to judge how much influence each staff member is allowed, but.....

Surely it's also time to look at our Opposition Analyst - Barry Prendergast. Four years now at Carlton following a poor recruiting record at Melbourne,

and

Football Administration Manager - Shane O'Sullivan - Sacked as head of recruiting over 10 years ago, and from the outside seems to continue in roles around the club due to firstly his relationship with Sticks and his family when he brought him to the club early 80's, and then his association with Mick from the Footscray days in the mid 80's.

There's a message in that... You need to have relationships with people at Carlton.
But you can't afford to believe the club will be great with the recruiting and development misses we have had..

Were supposed to have a development academy.. So what's happened between our recruitment and development?
Have we been ticking all the right boxes?

I feel like snatching Gleason's clip board and going for a wander around the club and doing my assessment...

Going to the AFL for help would be fantastic! They have a great track record of providing assistance.

A proper independent review of the club would address these concerns.

True but I really believe we need a strong Head of Football as a starting point. McKay is average at best.

Officially, nobody is going anywhere yet:

Quote:
Carlton’s new coach will report to head of football Andrew McKay, whose position has been strengthened in recent months.

He has conducted a review of the club’s lines of reporting in the past 12 months and is a key member of Carlton’s rebuild.

Carlton assistant Dean Laidley also has a strong future at the club given he has been a stabilising figure during a turbulent year.

He and Barker have worked well together in recent weeks after Laidley was at one stage a strong chance to win the caretaker role.

Carlton plans to surround its new senior coach with experienced coaches and support staff to ensure it has the best senior coach and coaching tears.

The Blues continue to maintain fitness boss David Buttifant will remain next year despite their interest in Dogs fitness guru Justin Cordy, who left to head up the Suns team.

...until the new coach starts sakcing .....
