Yes.. He should go but he was only stating the obvious.
He's calling the board incompetent and outside of that he isn't hoping to win this. He's washing his hands of any fault in history so he's not blamed.
But he would be shocked at the parallel world of professionalism this club is in compared to collingwood where it was personal.

I don't mind him shitting in the nest, if nothing else it exposes just how badly the club is being run.

The conspiracy theorists among us might conclude that the board is very happy to have Mick speaking out. It gives them the "circuit breaker" that Gerard Whateley so desperately wants.

They can say, we were willing to support Mick while there was understanding of the direction we want him to take the team, but now that he is at odds with our wishes it forced us to recomsider our view.

But yes, if he can, before, during or after, shit in the nest and highlight the club's other deficiencies that would be a nice bonus.

It'd be superb if they were all adults and didn't need to resort to primary school level Machiavellian bullshit

Can we drop him down to the reserves and elevate the reserves coach?

Again Crazy talk!

MM has NFI.. .. at best! Round 1 we get outrun by Richmond, so we drop runners and bring in talls ... For SUBY.
Ok we get outrun by the slowest team going around. Tagging Judd took away clean clearance. Pressured clearance gave it to the opposition. Happened at the beginning of the 2nd quarter...we made NO changes... Was it Bombers we swapped Henderson with Rowe? Both were doing ok in terms of what was happening in the game. Made Zip difference. Then we moved Walker and Yarran forward for about 8 minutes and decided it wouldn't work... Only time we've put some small pressuring forwards there. (Ellard can't run so doesn't count)
V Brisbane I watch a ring of free Lion players outside the contest... Long enough to explain to the kids what those players are doing....Carrots kicks under pressure, they have the ball and run FEEL.
Happened time and again.
Another one. Who is our runner? Could be Jonathan Coleman given the amount of running he needs to do.
I could keep going on... Example after example... My take is that MM can't possibly be THAT stupid (he is) BUT is also shitting in the nest.
REALITY is that our Board appointed him, they won't sack him.... They'll renew his contract after a shitty win or two, and then we'll sack him and have to pay him out.... THAT'S the Carlton way...

I get him MM saying at beginning of season that he can't see where we are going to lose. When you are watching a group of guys having a go in preseason with a gameplay you think works, I reckon many coaches will feel that way.
That he got it so wrong on both our players preparedness to work and the game plan, is the big worry (on field).

I agree with Synners (and Caro, btw) that there are bigger problems off field.
We have made many admin changes and too early to tell if these are good or bad. However, given the board's track record, I don't have a lot of confidence - most of these admin changes ride on the back of Triggs.
And speaking of the Board's track record.... That is the other missing piece. Yet to be addressed.

How can MM get it so wrong.

If he can't see them losing a game before the season starts it implies he thinks he has the cattle to win. When he says after each loss the opposition were a better team or we couldn't compete with class the opponents have, that is not an off field issue.

MM got it wrong. Big time. IMO.

MM may also have been putting a positive spin to get the players believing

That's what I thought, nevertheless he said it. He could have added that he hasnt evaluated every opponent in detail....

Wait, so everyone thinks that Malthouse was being deadly serious when he said he couldn't see them losing a game?

It's an absolute joke that this is being used against MM. He said it in jest and said so in numerous interviews. (Not that I am excusing MM for other issues) You can take anything out of context and it is being done all the time - especially by HS and SEN. People also forget that the club said last year that we are turning the list over - we actually made about 20 changes = 50% of the list over the last 2 preseasons.

If you read the interview fat Robbo had with the Judge you can see that the whole trading Murph thing is exactly the same thing.

When a club is in trouble like we are the media is having a field day and will stoke the fire with everything they have. Its not many years ago that they did the same thing to Port.

While the situation is very troubling etc. I do not believe anything I read or hear in the media.

I remember when he first said it....along with a great preaesason, never a healthier list to choose from....did he say it was in jest after round 2???

I am happy to watch the clubs wheels fall off for the rest of the year. Pick 1.

If we somehow rally it would mean we have unearthed some players and still get a high pick. Any pick in the top 6-7 should net is someone we can do something with.

Carlton boss Steven Trigg has admitted his dismay at the latest comments of Mick Malthouse that have put the already precariously placed coach at odds with the club hierarchy and its messaging about a significant rebuild.

On the night of the ladder anchor's round-eight match against Geelong, Trigg refused to dissect Malthouse's public lamentation - on Thursday - that talk of a major rebuild was a "big mental burden" for his players.

The club CEO could not hide his disappointment about the development, however, and told Fairfax Media before the game: "It is a conversation we will be having."

Trigg was talking specifically about Malthouse and the rebuild-related comments the coach made at a press conference two days before the match.

Fairfax Media is aware of more than one Carlton boss who was displeased with Malthouse's media performance this week, and Trigg has made it clear that he – for one - will not let it slip.
