So we (almost) all agree on that.

Where do we get a new board? Is there anyone out there with the desire and commitment to take on the task?

Or do we just treat Carlton as a year-long comedy routine?

Our current board members are a very powerful group of business people capable of making or breaking other potential board candidates considering a challenge.

I'm sure if the current board stepped aside gracefully, there'd be numerous capable board candidates step forward.

Malthouse is trying to get the boys up, it just that their not responding. Its doesn't really matter what he's saying to the press, is he wrong? This team, regardless of what Malthouse or anyone says, is not performing anywhere near the levels their expected too. And its not the players fault either. They were given the opportunity to play AFL football, big money, the big dream. Who'd say no to that? If Carlton offered me a few hundred thousand dollars I'd show up to training tomorrow with bells on.
Yes we have massive problems with our list. We don't have the cattle, plain and simple. Malthouse is stating the obvious, but at least he's being honest. We're trying to find answers as to why our team are not performing, and the easiest answer is the coach is the reason.
We said the same about Ratten, the same about Pagan and were saying the same about Malthouse. It's the coach. It's the coach. It's the coach. It's the coach ...

The strange thing is its not like he's a Ratten with no accolades behind him. Malthouse has at least taken teams from nowhere to premiership glory. At more than one club. On multiple occasions.

Malthouse is the pure optimist. A believer in the impossible. He came to the club honestly thinking these young men can go all the way. What's a coach to do, turn up and say, your all a pack of duds, don't even try?

Now that the players aren't even trying, and acting like a pack of duds what's a coach to do? Tell it like it is? Because they obviously aren't prepared to give their all and the coach can only work with what he's got in the end.

Personally I lay the blame at the feet of the club as a whole. Its no secret our recruiting has been the worst in the business. Our administration and board have been woeful to say the least.

It would be much easier to lay all the blame at Malthouse's feet, but we've already done that twice with Ratten and Pagan, and that didn't fix anything.

And true to form, here we go again ...

We've got nothing up forward.

Losing Waite, Betts and Garlett has cost us dearly. Having Kreuzer missing year after year has hurt us dearly. Judd is finished. Murphy cannot play to his full ability without support. Gibbs is just flat out lazy. We've got so many holes in our list, I'm not surprised in the slightest were sitting on the bottom. The players must be asking themselves who hired this lot?

WE, not the coach, are to blame. The Carlton football club are to blame for the mess we find ourselves in. We'll stick true to form and the coach will be gone! that much is a given. New coach will come, and then what? Everything will be different? How about another year where nearly the entire list needs an operation? Kreuzer goes down again? No Judd? Gibbs never pulls his finger out and sails through his career earning big bucks for no output until his next contract negotiations come up? We hope and pray SOS is a miracle worker?
How long before we have the cattle (if ever) until we're ready to challenge for finals? You really think the SAME board, behind every decision made is going to change anything? I certainly hope so, but seriously doubt it.

Malthouse got paid big bucks to bring big results. He failed, and he's gone. But we didn't hire a dud coach, our problems go much deeper at Carlton than that. He's made some decent money, and had a crack at it, which he loves. Good on him.

Maybe our next coach will be the messiah we're hoping for? After three tries already, I seriously doubt it. But hey, when have those at the top ever let us down? ...

That's not what they're cooking jim
Celery might smell bad and we might not like to eat it but it's good for you.
They're certainly not cooking anything good for us.
They're cooking is lard ... It's just going to kill us.
You agree don't you?

Jim... Considering it's the catch cry from the club..
" can you smell what they're cooking "
Can you tell us what you smelt they're cooking please?

Jim.. Pretend they're on master chef or something

Or are you only interested and defensive on what you think I'm cooking?
Example ... Awareness.. Truth.. Wisdom etc

Very interesting from Malthouse- says the public use of term rebuild "is a big hurdle to overcome, a burden" for some players @FOXSportsNews

He is a piece of work.

He goes on to say some players are thinking "hey if we are in a rebuild, why did you bring me in here"

Michael "It's Never My Fault" Malthouse.

I heard some of it on radio. Also said that players would be wondering why they signed up for 4-5 years if the club is rebuilding
Just driven a bigger wedge between him and the club. I find it amusing for him and his manager to say that he has a contract and wont wak away from a contract. Isnt that what he did at Collingwood?

Yes, some said that about Ratten because he didn't get us into the finals for a 4th? consecutive year.
Life's a bit different in this case, isn't it?

We didn't lose Eddie and Jeff. We chose to let them go.
Football department decision. The coach can't walk away from that.

Actually Synners, celery is about as useless a vegetable as you can find; it's low calorie for all of its bulk, so celery soup is one of the few meals on the planet that fills you without meeting your calorific needs.

We need dannyboy back in here with the chicken little schtick, because for all your posts, you aren't offering strategies or insight into strategies. You don't have to, but if you don't want to, maybe let other people wail at the sky every so often? Seems fair.

Lil' Miss Wojee II found a bit of celery in her salad a month or so ago.

"What's this?"
"Celery, try it."

She ate it, scrunched up her nose and said:

"Ewww! Why would anyone eat that?"

Carlton is the celery of the AFL.

To some people(those trying to lose weight) celery is a wonder food. A negative calorie food due to the fact it takes more energy to digest than there is in it.
