The club finds itself the subject of mocking and ridicule.

Surely there is movement from influential persons outside the inner sanctum.... surely ???

It was Mick who first started canning the players.
Now its the media calling it a rebuild?

Absolutely Em. Stark contrast.

Mick is pasting the players quality. "We don't have the cattle". "We know where our list is at". Although he is right, it's the worst possible thing a coach can do. No wonder the players are barely trying.

STK players have known for years they are in a rebuild. Yet their players aren't playing as pitifully as ours. Because their coach isn't potting them at every single opportunity. Let SOS worry about the rebuild. Mick should just focus on trying to get the boys up instead of trying to put the blame on the players & not him.

St kida had three sucks of the grand final.. Then bottomed out.. That's on the back of a decade in the finals and preliminaries.
Not sure how that equates to tricking players we're thereabouts and round two saying we're gutting the team and rebuilding for thee years.
That means everybody is on the auction block!

These two things are quite different in anybody's language except Carlton talk...

The club is mediocre way behind Mick..
Everybody knows it

Some posters are ignoring the timing of who said what and when they said it.
Caroline Wilson earlier this week said that certain people at the club regret what was said and how it was delivered just after round two.
And she was not talking about the coach.
Malthouse is gone but for our club to have any credibility they must honour his contract and then go through a comprehensive review to find a replacement.

When Ratts was sakced in 2012 the board and Mick both gambled on themselves getting a premiership.... and lost.

Both should go gracefully.

Trouble is it's much easier to sign a coach than it is to sign a new board.

Especially at Carlton.

Mick will leave and in sure happily when his contract is up...
Because I'm pretty sure he didn't expect to find what he unearthed.
The club is a rabble..

It's hard to face it isn't it?
The club has been a rabble for two decades.. There are so many knots it's hard to undo it all.

Change can only begin at the top with a new board and culture.
You can't change the culture from the bottom

Mick and the board should stop pointing fingers and boning everyone else when it's them that have failed.

No wonder morale is in the shitter....

So we (almost) all agree on that.

Where do we get a new board? Is there anyone out there with the desire and commitment to take on the task?

Or do we just treat Carlton as a year-long comedy routine?

Malthouse was sold a 'fixer-upper'.

What he actually got was:

He put a line through them in round two
it's known they're all up for trade even though to sign players like Gibbs, who asked the club for their plan into the future... They were given different assurances.
Give us one example of exactly that kind of tactic in the history of AFL football or any sport.
Sorry Syd, you're making things up again.
I cannot find one example of such a thing in the history of sport.
Nobody in sport talks about itself in 66 games time from now and doesn't give a specific target on what happens in 66 games from now... In round 2 after talking differently before round 2.
One of the craziest things ever!

Coaches and players are in self preservation mode.... What happens in that situation is everybody is playing paralysed.

But good try! ...

MLG was slow IMO.

I put a line through them in the second quarter against Richmond. Season was over then.

If the current board were honest with themselves and the members they'd let some others have a go.

But their ego's won't let them.

As a player, if you're told by the coach, the board, the media and the general public that you're not good enough you're going to start believing it. It's no surprise that the team is so devoid of confidence. It's hard to see any improvement coming this year.
