More interested in the fundamental approaches of the game plan and the coaching panel to assist in it.
Currently we have: line coaches (3), ruck coach, 2 development coaches, Wiley (coaching director/development director)
GWS have: senior assistant, line coaches, ruck coach, defensive coach (i.e. zone), 2 development coaches, academy coach; huge analysis/sports science team
Hawks: 4 assistants (structure isn't identified), ruck coach, coaching director, development director, one development coach
Port: line coaches, midfield manager (Voss), coaching director, 4 development coaches (2 playing, 1 SANFL coach)
Swans: Senior assistant, 3 assistants, ruck coach, development director, 2 development coaches, skills coach; they also have 2 opposition analysts
Pies: Senior assistant, line coaches, development director, 3 development coaches, skills coach; big analysis department
Adelaide: 4 assistants, development director, 6 development coaches (3 line, 1 reserves, 1 leadership, 1 general)
Geelong: 5 assistants, development director, 3 development coaches
Not only do we regularly lack the man power against these other structures, none of these clubs give as much power to a senior assistant as we do to Wiley. I'd be interested to see how we stack up against all other teams, but it doesn't look great against the clubs that are/have been doing well.
Just as an aside I heard Ryan Houlihan was being sounded out to run our father son academy (part time role).
