People just need to understand what the club has become instead of worrying about Essendon* for now...
Ultimately at Essendon* we will get a better picture in the coming weeks and months.
But this club is going down the gurgler .. Do not take your eyes off the ball...
I know it's easy to run away from our very own problems.
Focus on what's going on here..

I seem to remember that not all members are voting members, you need to request the club send you a form to register as a voting member. I remember doing it during the smorgon/pratt coup!

Synners, the scenario you're describing can't stop someone from being nominated unless they make it a requirement for all parties seeking election.

And if they clearly hatch the selection process, how do you think that's going to go down with the vast majority of members, who will suddenly appear at the AGM?

That's blatant corruption...

The point of the flexibility of the Director Eligibility Criteria as determined by the INC is to keep the standard in line with ethical business practice. I'd suggest most, if not all, candidates would get through the gate, and then they'd be subject to recommendation, which ultimately affects nothing.

Feel free to discuss the fine print further in the original thread:

Independent Nominations Committee - passed at AGM

Yes but it officially discredits their run.
The other club doing this is Essendon* on damage control.
Grrrrr I dunno what your qualifications are but I do know of side fantastic people who wouldn't worry about it in this kind of setup

Frank, it sounds like you would be deemed an ordinary member under the constitution, and those components of the constitution have not changed since you last voted.

Ok that's the last time I'm going to let that comment slide:

There are more clubs than Essendon* with this in place. MLG suggested GWS, Richmond, Sydney, Hawthorn and the AFL commission all had it installed. That's on record.

Most of those can be quickly checked online, but I really can't be bothered. You are ranting now, and I won't indulge it any longer from the perspective of a fellow poster.

I'm not ranting
Is just a model.
Any model can be good or bad.. But it's the intent and motive.

Essendon* Richmond gws and the afl commission eh?
OK hawthorn seems good on the surface but in not spotting an oligarchal culture.
Plus who is on their independent review committee?
Don't continue to give half baked evidence .

You're comparing apples with oramges

I don't see oligarchy billionaires and two- three camps in that lot of board members ..

I'm really not, and as I already said man, I'm done here.

If you want to refute MLG's claims, it's as simple and going and checking each club site for their constitution.

Whether he's telling the truth or not, it's all there, in black and white. If he lied, then you can get your board spill.

Of course you're done here.
I can't see people at hawthorn needing to get through their president to get at the board.
You really believe that this board needs to have people have their boxes ticked to dislodge them?
The problem with you Jim is you're out there sprooking this board at every corner and defending their mediocrity.
It's quite unnerving to think this board has its admirers. I would classify your behaviour as quite amarous of what's going on.
You might see me as hostile.
The truth might be somewhere in the middle but there is no doubt more people see it like me and very few people see it like you.
So I wouldn't classify myself as unique in my stance but I'd probably classify your continuous and perpetual fervor and zeal in your defence of what's going in as quite perplexing given the circumstances....
And yes we "must trust somebody sometime" that's yet another of a whole bunch of perplexing arguments you give.
Which raises suspicious and eyebrows on what you're contributing here and for whom.
It's natural to look at you with great suspicion

Jimmy.. You don't want to understand the far reaching effects of bad culture and it's nurturing do you? Lol
poor culture and passing out on from one generation to another with these layers of incubation..
To me that's amazing... Lol

Ok forget what I said earlier:

Synbad wrote:

Categorically untrue, and anyone reading this diatribe you pretend is an actual discourse or conversation can see that.

Quote:

Categorically untrue.

Quote:
You might see me as hostile.

I see you behaving like a buffoon and failing to provide anything constructive when asked a question or offered a platform.

Quote:
The truth might be somewhere in the middle but there is no doubt more people see it like me and very few people see it like you.

Given that you're not even paying attention to half of what I'm putting up here, I very much doubt you know or have anything of the sort.

Quote:
So I wouldn't classify myself as unique in my stance but I'd probably classify your continuous and perpetual fervor and zeal in your defence of what's going in as quite perplexing given the circumstances....

You are nothing if not unique, because only you would equate my behaviour as fervorous and yours as calm and contemplative.

Quote:
And yes we "must trust somebody sometime" that's yet another of a whole bunch of perplexing arguments you give.

Took you two days to address a simple point, and you've not even made headway into an answer.

Quote:

I'm truth-seeking; you're do-nothing so long as this is your entire spiel.

Do not include me in future discussions regarding these issues because your accusations have legitimately crossed to libellous. I'd suggest writing a retraction.

After trying to paint me as a conspiracy theorist and whatever else jimmy.. Bringing up stuff like " Illuminati " to make me look like a crackpot.. Now you're talking about libel.?
On Illuminati Jim.. Are you sure that rich elites don't drive policy via lobby groups and donations?
Don't run away.. I wanna talk to you about this.
It's a very critical situation here.. There are gatekeepers apparatus set up by the club to filter things at board level... And I look at how they tried to sneak it.. The thought they put into it and the wrongly named " independent' then I look at your role here.. OK I think it's a pure coincidence and not a conspiracy that all of a sudden you're singing the president's praises and all waxing lyrical and using words like " trust"..

But don't run away.

I do remember that.
Poses the same questions:

Does the club proactively inform new and existing members that is the case?
Is it in the interest of the current regime to inform them this is the case?
Does the fact the members do not know this deter other tickets being formed??
Would elapsed members consider joining if they had the choice to vote?

Food for thought....
