It won't make a difference. The more games he plays in a row and the more training sessions he pushes himself in, the closer he is to the foot letting him down again.

They will have to find some crazy way of managing this injury.

Agree, history shows that it is more than 50/50 chance it will go again. Play him in the AFL.

If he gets through this year, I reckon his name needs to be on the table for a trade. From a business risk, it makes sense

Well if theres a guaranteed measure we should take with him that will preserve him, Im all ears.
Resting him for the next 5 years isnt an option.

If he's right to go because injury has healed then he should play thiis week, next, I dont care, but soon.

We have to find out if iit will stand up to the rigours of AFL. What are we waiting for?
Its right or it isnt. Match aerobic fitness is a separate issue.

yeah, this is all true.

i guess i'm a wishful thinker in believing Kreuz could be bought along slowly in the reggies and go from strength to strength and build up to being a force again.

it's a shame, he could have been great. had the right demeanour on the field and could have led us.

Still can, but he needs to play. Running around in the VFL won't save his foot. In fact AFL surfaces may be better for it.

We can afford to bench him or play him forward until he gets full match fitness.

I think if there is a chance for him to have a career he almost needs to hardly train from game to game and perhaps be rested every now and then as well using him carefully during a game (subbed off, full forward etc). Is it worth it? Is he really that good?

It's such a shame but I don't see him playing AFL for much longer.

No no no. The papers are taken up by Essendon* and WADA now. We won't hear anything about Carlton, outside of us bring cheats.

I say send him to James Hirds medical team, who got him an additional 5 years of football on a trashed navicular bone.

It's a proven legitamite medical treatment.

Watched the Gisnts v Hawks replay.
These kids can play and so they should be able to, given they were the cream off three crops.
It's only a matter of time before they stat to rip sides apart with their run and skill.

Perhaps that time is starting now.

I can't see us beating them if we play the way we did and they play the way they did.

But I'm beyond caring. Once upon a time I used to storm out of the house and mow the lawn to burn off energy. I Once did back and front twice before it was too dark to see. Now I just shrug my shoulders and see who we have next week.

That's what they've turned me in to.

Note to MM for this game.
If we get a turnover at HB and run the lines, it would help if at least ONE Carlton player was in our attacking half of the ground. Preferably three. It may seem radical but I think it may have some value.

GWS are a very good young side, brimming with talent do I'm hoping we enter the game in a positive frame and players produce a competitive game.
Slowly the margins will narrow as we gather our best team on the park.
Long way to go yet and we may well be 1- 9 at the break.
But a positive competitive attitude is what we need to see. Skills and youngsters developed properly and winning games will come soon enough.
Ciao

For me this game has all the signs of potentially being a 'coach killer' type game.

Even though GWS are playing some good footy, full of young talent and coming off a good win against the Premiers this would still be considered a 'winable' game for us at Etihad. If we come out and underperform and get beat by 10 goals plus I can see Mick having a very uncertain 48-72 hours ahead of him regardless of what our Pres keeps saying...

This forum is a joke, any sort of positivity at all ?
Granted we have been hopeless but the ins this week will be good.
On form we get pumped, but who knows, they are still young.

If we come with the right attitude and work rate we can beat them

Love the optimism HHollywood.
I share optimism with my kids. they are 7 and 11.
I tteach them how to deflect the Swans shhitt stirrers at school.

Realistically the players have burned us and the coach and maybe vice versa..
Sure we ca turn this around, but this season has all the hallmarks oof 2014.
Just swap the Lions game for the Demons game.

Surely theres a fire in the players' belly.
Surely the coach will have a structure in the forwardline.
Surely the coach knows what he change up.

FFrankly, the coach sounds deflated and he has his finger oon the pulse.

It is not just this site which is pessimistic.

Do you hhonestly think we will win?
If so, how much by?

Some fair starting 22 talent due to come in this week or next (Menz, Jamo, Carrots, Yazz, Simmo, Kreuz, Hendo). Add to that White and Byrne coming back through the Nthrn Blues.
Maybe getting close to a full strength squad for once may help kick start some sort of competitiveness.

VFL curtain raisers kick off Saturday

In a major move to engage fans and increase exposure for the VFL competition, the Blues will play two games – against North Ballarat in Round 5 and Frankston in Round 11 – prior to AFL aligned side Carlton’s matches against GWS and Gold Coast.

That's basically a reversal to where we started in the first few rounds Surrey; not enough running power in that line up.

I'm hoping Boekhorst is still in the mix rather than Carrazzo, and would rather drop Walker than Curnow. Curnow's form has been up and down a little but he's responded well in the last fortnight. Walker looks off the pace sadly.

Rowe? Really? I would keep him for sure.

I would also keep boekhurst. Besides his one bad mistake I thought when he got the ball he used it pretty well. The more we play him, the more he will find the ball.
