Can anybody see the name on the card when we flips it over (might require some technical magic). I am certain the club would like to know.

Why will the club want to know who it is?
Will he be court marshalled for speaking the truth?
Will it endanger the board's positions?
We can only hope.

They probably want to make him their social media manager because he got something Carlton related to go viral.

Not exclusively. There must be plenty like me.

I buy memberships for my family and we usually don't use them to get into games.
Sometimes we have the memberhips with us when we travel interstate, most times we dont and just buy best seats available.
It's a donation which helps the club financially and helps with the clubs membership tally.

I also buy memberships for my mates' kids. They don't usually go to games, but they remember which their first membership belonged to. I buy those for the same reason. Spread the word.

I stopped buying memberships this year for relatives' kids.

At one stage between 2003 and 2009 I was buying up to 50 memberships to help oout.

Between 2003-2010 there was a group of about 20 who had reserved seats all together for home games, some I attended. The club decided to change seating arrangements and split families with the promise they wouldnt do that. They have promised to fix that yyear after year and I can tell you that all buut 4 of the seats remain as members of the club.

More than just a whine SB. There's some serious ethical issues at play here too.
We are talking about people's passions, financial coommitmnts and the service (and lack of) they receive from an institution they once trusted.

Memberships reflect more than just seats at games.

Liable for a maximum contribution of $50 towards the club's debts should it fold.

Bondi your support for the club is quite generous . But may I ask what did buying 50 membership a year entitle you too.
What extras did you get what influence did you have on the club other than bolstering their numbers and getting a reserved seat at the game.
A membership is effectively a season pass they might try and dress it up more to make you feel more included but essentially you are buying tickets to a show

I agree with your POV, but stated its not exclusively for seats.
I didnt do it for entitlement I did it to boost numbers, spread the word, and a bit of fun.
The members receive the mershandise and wear it, stick it..in a sense spreading he word, increasing the reach and helping me build the population of like minded people around me so I feel at home in SSydney.

Its a lot of things for me.

The result of poor performance for over a decade and futile promises that we are coming has been somewhat embarrassing for me TBH. The result is the memberships are a good laugh in conversation but I have only converted a handful of those members to Carlton supporters. Thanks club.

Today the only influence I have on the club is to withdraw my support. They dont listen to members otherwise and I doubt they could care less because they've done nothing to entice lapsed members whose seats with their families were taken away by the egotistical managerment of the membership department: the untouchables.

Your point is I can choose to watch them or not. That is correct.
I can do that without a membership and do so. I do not view my membership as an entry ticket.

In terms of entiltement, I just hope we can get a few stickers for the kids to spruik the club, and that isnt done well either, but I cant do anything about that. It is not really about the seats and stickers
withdrawing my membership next year is my way of of letting Admin know once and for all I do not condone their behaviour and decisions,, and they cant take me for granted any more.

Board members who sit on the Football sub-committee and Membership sub-committee need to resign, or justify to the members, why they should not resign. Adrian Gleeson has been a board member for too long, and given he's been a member of the football sub-committee throughout, time to be replaced. Too late now, but a David Parkin or Robert Walls would've been a more suitable Club Director, with Football Ops responsibilities, rather than Adrian Gleeson.

And the membership department has been a basket case for a decade. I sent the Membership Manager a long email this March, detailing why I would not be renewing my membership in 2016, after 20+ plus years of being a member, the last 10 years, a family of 4 Captain Carlton membership with premium reserve seating. I won't list the details here, same stuff that everyone else has been complaining about, but I can say, I asked for my email to be forwarded to Head of Membership. I was expecting a call back, or at the very least an email, from Clinton Brown. I GOT NOTHING!!!

I never thought I would not be a Carlton member. Well sad to say, that will be the case in 2016. Won't rejoin until most of the current derelict board are gone.

This years $1500 family membership for my 2 teenage boys, and my wife and I has been a total waste. After Sundays pathetic effort, as a follow up to the rubbish dished up vs Collingwood, with our Captain and Vice Captain getting 2 possessions between them in last qtr when game up for grabs, vs interstate bottom of the ladder Lions, enough is enough. We've been going to every home game as a family for the last 10 years, occasional interstate game thrown in. If your on-field leaders don't give a sh$t, when they're getting paid $600k plus per year, then how the hell can the club and board expect the supporters to give a sh$t anymore.

Well said! This mirrors my group's situation and my feelings exactly.

In fact half my group dropped off for this year, and I stupidly was one of the ones who paid up.

The Melbourne game last year was my watershed moment, but got sucked in by our close finishes towards the end of 2015 and got back on the horse. I won't be back in 2016!

Actually.. I've been thinking about this.
Whilst smoking a glorious h.upmann magnum 50 on the deck on Saturday and pairing that up with the most incredible st Agnes xo brandy... I thought to myself about this very same question.
It's been six or seven years for me now of not being a Carlton member and not regularly attending home games.I go to one or two a year these days.. Mostly in the MCC.
So I haven't gone and a couple of cousins stopped becoming members slowly since.. Citing different reasons.
Family
.. Busy work schedule..

But I know it's because I don't go and the experience with the club is different and attending football just isn't fun anymore..
A mate of theirs apparently stopped going as a result as well...

Anyway.. I thought what would it take for me to become a member again?
I always used to think I would return one day..
But while smoking this again stick I had a think about what going to the football used to be for me and what it could be now.
You couldn't get two poles further apart.
The experience is trudging through the park on a Saturday afternoon making your way through a kaleidoscope of autumn leaf colors with yet another expectation of a kill just can never be replicated.
I felt like I have fallen out of love with a partner.. Yeah she's there.. But I don't love her.. I'm just used to her.. A lifetime of knowing her but no feeling on how she's traveling .. Dont feel any quick nookies anymore.. She's got an alcohol problem.. She's playing pokies and yeah she's looking hagged... Sometimes she needs side cash for her habits and she turns on the charm offensive.. I have stopped caring and giving... And I wonder how she ended up like that..
The hottest chick at school.. My friends were so jealous and she just let herself go..
Weirdly I don't think my club can ever earn that trust and love back again.
I don't believe it when it says it's changing. I look at it with a sense of bewilderment at how it got to this... Sure it sometimes gets some work done.. Or a new hair color.. But it's still the same tacky club.. That has lost its charm and there's no way it's ever going to get it back.

I now can't see myself ever returning to football the way it has.
The game has changed
The experience is not the same... The loud shocking music and the guy in the loudspeaker yelling at the top of God voice over my shoulder every few seconds and asking me to hug a neighbor for a pie.. It's all too contrived.. I hate it!
My club hasn't helped it's cause...I just don't have the same feelings for it I once did..
The clean break from attending football has been wonderful.
I don't rush to the ground from doing what I need to do.
I can either watch a game in my living room on a huge screen and surround sound.. Those of you that know me know my eyesight isn't 20/20 .. So no more headaches ( should go to an optometrist some day)
Or I can watch with a mate or cousin...
We can cook up some rib eye steaks bust open a great 2003 cab sav I get my hands on.. The princes park whistler knows what I'm talking about .. Kick back and relax.
I always watch right through to the end no matter how bad.. Bit I'm also sure there will be a time I'll flick it over to another station.
61 games to go of nothingness according to mark RollDaDice.. It's already been fifteen years.. Now he's saying 66 more games.. What he isn't saying is where he expects us to realistically be after those 66 games.
Now would I stop buying great cigars/ scotch / wine/ brandy and great food to go to the football?
I don't see the point...

Life has changed...
This club better understand that...

It's going to be hard to win me back... In used to doing things differently in the time they were withering away the club.

I wonder if they understand that....
Life is ruled by habits.
My habits are different now
