He's just as likely to accidentally knock out a Brisbane player as he is any Carlton players.

Brisbane will be seeing this as very much a winnable game.

dead on. alotta the talk out of brisbane is, this is their line in the sand game.

This game should be played at a beach.... Surely it should be a line in the sand game for us too

Jones is never going to be dropped.. he is MM's Favorite Beast... I wouldn't drop him either... as useless as he is, we have no one to kick goals or Crush packs for us...

I would bring both Watson & Casboult and play them all.....I got the feeling Watson is not one of MM's favorite Sons... he will be removed if MM stays in the Club...

I agree, with Hendo out, our tall forward stocks are debilitated. I know Hendo played badly last week, but who didn't? Besides he may have gone into the game carrying a tight hamstring. However, all three of our replacement tall forwards, Jones, Casboult, and Watson are not setting the world on fire as well, whatever grade they are playing in. It's going to be a raffle who plays forward this week. My preference is for Watson to come in for hendo, with Levi a replacement for Warnock. (Does more around the ground work) Watson's inclusion is based on his previous games in the seniors when he kicked 4 against Essendon* last year , and he is a surer and more accurate kick for goal. :sly:

Remember Robbo was the one that told the Brisbane players, that according to the Carlton Group, they were the easybeats of the comp last year, etc, etc? What a mouth he is, and I'm glad he has gone.

I have heard that as well. Told his testing is poor. Why do we keep picking these players that seem to take so long to develop? Is it the recruiting, the development or both? When was the last time we picked a player that stepped straight in and played good footy. Seems to happen a fair bit at other clubs.

Probably be Walker 2004 I would think, (not counting Juddy anyway ... I think you mean debutants).

On different topic, wasn't it a Brisbane thrashing that sealed Pagan's fate?

Hmmm

And Warwick Capper while at Brisbane sealed Robert Walls fate back in Rd 10, 1989

Maybe 3rd time lucky...lol....

Good news Carlton fans:

Dale Thomas will be named in the extended squad for Sunday's clash with Brisbane.

I don't reckon we've had a decent one since Ken Hands, Percy Bentley & Newton Chandler, said they'd "take the fat one" after signing older brother Don.

Good news?? Hasn't played for 6 weeks with a stuffed shoulder that will need surgery and will be rushed back in.

Rebuild?

Steady on Psych, they had scans and a consult then decided against surgery, and this has been on the cards since about a week after the injury from Thomas' own mouth.

So either the club medicos are morons, or our publicly listed injuries are full of shit. Given the rolling '1-2 weeks when it's really an indefinite' routine, I think Thomas might actually play.

Looking forward to the changes in about 3 or 4 minutes...

So just a question

Where has it been communicated that he needs surgery?

Does this club ever stop, even briefly, to consider the perception a decision like this makes?

So, subject to fitness, Thomas & Casboult are confirmed ins. No Jamison. Some shocks there...

Pretty safe to say Warnock won't be playing unless we've completely lost our minds.

Not sure. I thought there was a statement saying that even with rest the shoulder will need corrective surgery at years end, The other choice was to have surgery now and miss the season.

Anyway whatever the needs I can't believe we are rushing him in.

I know Thomas is confirmed in but surely you wouldn't play both Thomas and Menzel both coming back from injury and not match fit.

Looks like:

Ins - Levi, Thomas, Graham
Outs - Warnock, Hendo, Whiley

Can't imagine we'd have Menz and Thomas back in the same week, can't play two risky players.

For this lot, just the one tagger will do, Whiley needs another good hitout for NB's.

Given our lack of talls, can see Walks, Everitt and Jaksch being tall options either back or fwd.
