Gibbs needs to moved on. Cannot keep teasing us with flashes of performance and the fact you're a former No.1 pick doesn't make you immune for scrutiny or trade bait. I'd take a second round pick for him. We won't get a 1st rounder. I'd commit to paying only a qtr of his wage for the remaining 4 years that way we're not hamstrung salary cap wise.

At this point in time we need a big trade table

Yea lets trade him ... who knows we might just pick up another Liam Jones.

I can't believe how you guys get sucked in. I noticed Loyd (with a big smirk on his face) pushing hard for Carlton to trade away all our best players ... If thats the mentality we will be stuck at the bottom a very long long long time. Just plain dumb ... the media laughs, the opposition laughs and indeed we are quite laughable ... Richmondesque.

Viva the Madhouse.

Everyone has to be tradable

But you don't trade if you don't the right price - talk of accepting a 2nd rd for Bryce is stupid

Trade him? That's crazy talk.
Send him to the VFL and don't play him even if he consistently gets 45 possesisons.
Then tells him at the end of the year that he's part of our plans ...pick up a delisted rookie from Melbourne because he's gunna be a gun, just no one can see it there, and the tell Bryce that he's delisted because we don't have room on the list ( Quite obviously full of gun players).

Isn't that what we do?

Just send him to the VFL for a week or two. That's something we can do now. We can't trade him until October.

I think he should go to the magoos for a couple of weeks. Sometimes its the best thing - even/especially for players who do have ability.

Talk of trading him is way premature but shows how pissed off people are.

yeah ... i'm just not sure gibbs is a fulltime mid. too much jogging, doesn't put his head over it, not enough involvement.

i'd throw him forward. good mark, usually a good kick and on a team crying out for someone to start kicking goals, he can't do any worse.

You should never set up challenges like that for anyone involved at Carlton.

People on here are delusional if you think you're going to get a first round pick for Gibbs. Just laughable.
Our biggest noose around Gibbs is not just his inept performances, ala every year besides 2014, but also his contract term and how long we have to put up with his performances. He's supposed to be a LEADER!!! Where the @#$%&! is the leadership this year!!!! He's had it too easy and earnt his fat contract after a standout year.

That is exactly what this club has put up with since the mid 2000's and accepted. Time to cut these types loose as I don't want Cripps, Docherty, Menzel, etc to inherit these traits from so called leaders!!!

how about we just change the way we go about it and play footy
who's improved under mighty micky?
serious question
please tell me how we have improved after three years and who has grown into a leader or consistent contributor after 3 years?
Cripps aside because of his natural footy instinct and finally getting some games?

Of course we should. All players beyond 25yo that command top 20-30 picks should be shipped out asap. Murphy, gibbs, Kreuzer, Henderson should be shopped around now.

Any players that don't command those picks are retired or kept to help provide some hard bodies as the kids develop

this is much bigger than mick malthouse. our players have played the same pea-hearted way under pagan, ratts and now mick.

gibbs is just one of about a dozen players on our list who aren't will to pay the physical toll week-in, week-out, in this game to be successful. and be sure ... this shirking of putting heads over the ball, is contagious.

imo, we need to weed out the players – even if we're getting 50 cents in the dollar – before they spread their disease to the next generation of kids coming through, who are willing to pay the price to win; Cripps, Menzel, Buckley, boek, clem etc

Gibbs going nowhere.
Just get a coach who can get the players to buy in. Simple.

yeah ... it's not that simple.

best coach in the world can't make gibbs suddenly put his head over the ball. that has to come from within Gibbs.

problem is Gibbs don't wanna put his head over the ball. he's got a manbun to think about.

not everyone is bash and crash braithy but all he needs is the right motivation to play like last year and so does everybody else
look at freo, soft until lyon made them into a hard team, immediate results
port, apparently talented but flaky, Hinckley made them hard uncompromising
dogs good hard but push overs, now they are a hard fast scoring team
the cats were soft also until they and their coach (love him or hate him) made them an over night in and under team with a bully attitude

the coach makes or breaks the player not the other way around

Get rid of him now - and whoever signed him to five years - sack them now as well. Anyone know who made that decision?

Probably McKay. Worst Football Manager in the AFL. Seriously NFI. Word is he'll be gone at the end of the year as well.

did you see mckay's face last night after the loss? in the sheds at one point the camera zoomed in on him. talk about a guy who knows he's dead man walking.

i'd bet all of my money, which isn't much, that he's gone at the end of the year.

it's going to be some kind of cleanout. which is exciting in itself.

I should flower hope so.

Agree, if we couldnt get a really good player or a top pick it would be pointless to trade him. We have all seen what a good player he can be so to trade him away for unders would be a stupid thing to do.

Surely we cannot trade our reigning B&F winner?

Where will the $600k a year go?

He is a fantastic bruise free player. We just need to find a game plan that will accomodate his jogging bruise free style.
