Collingwood mate of mine said Buttifant was let go because he traded on one thing, the altitude factor. When a Burgess came in at Port, he changed the game with heat training and a lot more running.

I've heard that apart from Curnow, Thomas and Mick that is hated universally within the club.

Looking at our physical attributes against other teams, we seem non competitive.

Yeah well, I agree.

But be prepared for the "they're just lazy" crowd, who will be along any minute now.

I have no inside knowledge, but the only sides we've been able to go with for a game have been the notoriously poor finishers Essendon* and the barely legal Saints.

My most vivid memories this year was our guys running on the spot halfway through the second quarter in rounds one and two.

I hope he's not a one-trick pony, and that he's in contact and reading the latest for his profession and working in tandem with the physio, medical, technical and sports science teams.

If he isn't, he's not doing his job to the best of his ability.

FWIW, I think we're running games out but we have a few pea hearts. The athletic output we're seeing out of Buckley, Cripps, Boekhorst, Murphy, Docherty, DVR and many others is impressive compared to previous seasons and the pre-season.

I think we've been slow to slim down as a list given the current trends in the game, but there are plenty of success stories.

@#$%&! me sideways.

The only games where we've outlasted anyone was against the drug free Bombers who only play 3/4s and the baby saints.

We are the only side who's fitness gets better at the end of the year, guess why? Because they finally get the miles in their legs as the season progresses.

Buttifant is a failure.

Collingwood had 12 players who had played less the 50 games on the field tonight. None of them greatly talented, some are even rejects from other clubs, but as is the case in almost all of our games for the last 3 years, we can not run with them. Not even close.

Everyone is trying to come up with different ways to blame malthouse or the players, or lack of this so called talent which we supposedly are the only club without, but the bottom line is that we are no where near as fit as any other side in the comp. We are physically incabable to compete and we can recruit as much 'talent' as we want, but I'm affraid that unless we subscribe to whatever 'programs' other clubs are doing, we won't compete

They're not collapsing on the field at the end of a match.

Anaerobic performance is an issue, in so far as we're not super human and can't chase all our turn overs. It starts with a little nervousness, and then it turns into full blown tired kicks.

Having an underdone Whiley, Walker, Warnock and apparently Jaksch, Gibbs and Jones has an impact too. We're clearly juggling a bit, and we probably need to stop doing that.

Are we talking known knowns? known unknowns? unknown unknowns?

For the benefit of those casually reading the forum, would you like to expand on your point?

I'm going to knock off for the night, so whatever discouragement you feel you have from posting with impunity goes with me, I guess.

The club is under going severe cost cutting across all levels. Plenty of Admin staff and football staff have lost their positions. The club has some serious cash issues. It's inly going go to get worse.

If that is the case, we are even more [REDACTED] than I thought when I woke up this morning. And that's saying something.

Cost cutting?
I can think of $500,000 they can save next year

Seriously?

Credit to Trigg & McKay for going through a 6-month process for all of this.

I'm sure they'll beef up the necessary departments with a watchful eye.
