Can't see us winning.

In fact this looks a lot like one of those games that show where we are, we have them a lot in the last 7 or so years.

So, I'm happy to see some new and newish faces and hope we compete.

if wood can rest up front and take a mark, make a contest, i'd welcome warnock.

giving crisps & judd first use of the ball roving warnock could work well.

Boekhorst and Whiley seem to be the most likely candidates for the green vest. Whiley has missed a lot of footy and Boekhorst's tank is questionable at the moment.

The other option is to back the kids at all costs and play Armfield or Ellard as Sub. I'm not sure that's the right call on this occasion and I doubt MM will do it. Armfield and Ellard are in decent form. Ellard in particular played his role last week and I think he will give it everything tonight for Mick. And I reckon it will be red hot early so I don't mind having one of our youngsters coming into the game later with fresh legs.

Maybe Everitt goes to Pendelbury and Whiley as Sub?

Hendo and Jones permanent forwards, Walker & Jaksch are the swingman options. Walker might get good minutes in the midfield/wing role.

If Ellard gives his all he will be spent at 3/4 time. He needs to be involved in the sub position in some way to be competitive.

I don't mind if he's the red or the green, but if we want the most out of him he's involved. Boekhorst ran out the game last week, and Whiley was ready to go before his hamstrings got a bit tight.

true. looks like it's the special olympics out there in the backup ruck friday night.

Mate, that twice you've used the "special Olympics" gag within a month. Cardable.

I agree wholeheartedly - needs to have a good hard look at hisself - - I have a lot to do with the kids involved in special Olympics and if our bluebaggers displayed half the heart and effort as these kids do then we would never lose a game. inspirational is not a good enough word to describe them...............!!

Hope Walker gets 0 minutes mid/wing. Butchers the ball under pressure.

Far more effective up forward.

Historically delivers the ball well into the 50. I think his biggest issue is inviting too much pressure that he prefers to weave out of instead of trying to nail a solid kick early.

Sprays the odd attempted bullet pass, but who doesn't in today's zones unless they're on the counter? That's decision making rather than execution.

Was thinking the same.

Hope so. Are we looking for more run and to become more mobile?

Not having Casboult & not playing Menzel gives us a lot of flexibility. Maybe Jones will spend some time in Ruck ala Leigh Brown. He is not a key forward but as a third tall/ruck back up who knows. At least we are trying things and giving some kids a go.

I hope Menzel plays in the 2's for a while and spends time on the ball. Needs the experience.

IMO Casboult isn't up to it. Good mark but that's it. Not enough to be a good league footballer. I like the side, gives us something to look forward to.

B: Buckley Rowe Jamison
HB: Tuohy Everitt Docherty

Foll: Wood Judd Murphy
C: Boekhurst Cripps Simpson

HF: Bell Jaksch Walker
F: Gibbs Henderson Jones

Int: Whiley Armfield Curnow (Ellard)

I hope Whiley doesn't tag. He is a very good talented inside mid. He just needs some game time. I am looking forwrad to he & Cripps playing together and winning the inside ball.

In the next few weeks we can add Menzel, Sheehan, Byrne, Kruezer, Yarran, Smith, DVR, Thomas and it's a base we can build on.

Really really enjoyed this post of yours.
Dealing with what is picked, and what is picked is courageous but also promising.
I like the flexibility with this side...a lot...and you depict the possibilities.

I wish Casboult was ruck fit because I'd love him in the ruck all day crashing into packs, hurting opposition ruckmen and taking great marks in the backline or linking up. Just need to get the kicking right and build up the engine.

Set Whiley free. I love him in the team

I just get the distinct feeling we'll have one of our famed lapses 5 minutes before half time, Pies will kick away to a 4 goal lead which they'll maintain for the rest of the match. Seems to be repeating pattern.

Mick did play Walker forward when we played Collingwood in 2013. Tex spent time up forward v Essendon** 2 weeks ago too.

With Tuohy coming back to form, it helps move Tex higher up the ground.

However, the fact there is 2 talls (Levi & Warnock) named as emergencies makes me think there may be a late change. Usually there's only 1 isn't there?

Walker moved to the wing in 2nd half vs Stk and it proved a winner.
Created fluidity and connection with his pace and his confidence with his pace...when he got the nut. Hated watching him go for marks last week with Jammo and Rowe and no one on the floor for crumbs.

I agree if we flower up Whiley trying to turn him into a tagger I'll spew up.

Agree. I actually hope we don't tag at all. Play as a defensive group and then learn to attack when we have it. Look at GWS, Bulldogs, Crows even Freo now are all playing more a defensive set up, then an attacking offensive style. Not only winning more but much more enjoyable to watch. Hawks have been doing it for years.

I'd love to see us go with a mid rotation of Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Simpson, Cripps, Whiley, Bell going head to head with Collingwood. I reckon we would do well.

Anyone going to the match should know traffic will be horrendous. As well as being Fri night peak hour and 90k heading the G, the Aboriginal action group is protesting and will block Swanston and Flinders from 5pm.
