When was the last time a coach departed mid-season and was replaced by someone not already on the staff?

If Mick leaves the interim coach will be a current member of our coaching staff. Most likely Laidley or Wiley.

Wonder where Carey is getting his mail from? I read somewhere that he is close friends of our ruck coach.

Bluey was deff spotted around the joint a few weeks back.
Wondered at the time why he d be there at this time of the season.
Kind of making sense now.

If you watch Gibbs' presser the only reason he used 'send off' is because the journo he was responding to used 'send off' in his question. I doubt it was intentional on Gibbs' behalf.

If it was anyone else saying it you might think it was on the money.
But as much as I like Gibbs as a player his media work needs a lot of work

I've seen him taking notes at 2 training sessions in the last 3 weeks. I thought he may have been an opposition analyst.

Ah, leading question.

That's not poor journalism at all...

If it happens, and I think it should happen, it will be a weight off everyone's shoulders.

The club can then finally go through a legitimate process to get the right coach.

I think you'll find that was Tania Hird in an excellent disguise.

Laidley did a great job with North. Certainly dragged the best out of them.

saw some footage of MM on the ground after the game on Saturday. The way I saw the players engage with him (particularly Henderson) I reckon it looked like he well and truly has their support.

He can coach until the end of the year and the club can still go through a proper process to appoint the right coach for 2016 and beyond (and the right coach might be MM?).

I don't see how our coach quitting or being sacked after round 5 or 6 could be a good thing for anyone.

Unless his heart isn't in it, but I have no reason to believe that's the case.

We as supporters should be totally embarrassed that the media & emotion is being used to select our senior coach.
This is the result of combining personality politics with years of failure to deflect the responsibility from our organisation to the easy target of the coach. Malthouse is a good coach. He is not responsible for our current position and every time you see Cripps, Byrne, Buckley succeed you might want to pay Malthouse the respect he deserves. I hope he gets a 3 year contract if for no other reason than to make a statement that our board, football department and feral supporters are largely responsible for our current situation and not the coach.
