Makes you wonder why Betts and Waite bailed for more money and we can't attract free agents.
You would think we had buckets of money to throw around .
Some of these guy's wouldn't get what they are on at other clubs.
But I suspect about 1/3rd of the cap is sucked up by 4-5 players

I've been saying this for 18 months, and I've mentioned it in a few threads lately.

With minimum wages established in several tiers, I don't see why it isn't a reality. Shit players shouldn't get a 5% salary bump just because.

Not a chance that the figures for Tuohy, Jones, Carrazzo, Boekhorst and Holman are correct, at the minimum.

That reads like someone pulled down their supercoach figures and went from there.

At first glance I didn't think it looked too bad.

It appears to be around the salary cap figure.

For those who say the values are wrong, can you give a ball park estimate of where you think they are?

If Boekhurst as a first round pick was to play 13 games this season he'd earn $126,910.

AFLPA CBA 2012-2016

Pages 62-68

'Vet' minimum is $80,815 in 2015, the cap is $9,921,000. The ASA cap is $992,000.

Here are the first year salary numbers for draft choices from the previous year:

1st Round - $71,515 - Boekhorst
2nd round - $65,000 - DVR
3rd Round through to PSD - $61,610 - Smith, Foster

Here are the second year salary numbers for draft choices from two years ago, which are based on their draft position, and games played in their first season:

1st Round - Cripps (3 games) - $76,325
2nd round - No one
3rd Round through to PSD: Giles (0 games) - 62,695, Holman (1 game) - 65,720

Rookie list payments work as such:

Base: $55,440
Promoted rookie: $61,610 (pro-rata)

Some notes:

- VFL games do not incur match payments or bonuses, at least in standard CBA contracts

- All players who play senior matches or pre-season matches get paid a match payment

- There are default bonuses inserted into contracts for first year draftees and rookies based on games played with brackets of: 1-5 games, 6-10 games, 11+ games, with each tier adding up to a set maximum

Using this as an example:

1st round pick base: $71,515

13 match payments: $45,500

Bonus for 11+ games: $9,795

Total: $126,810

With the quality of our list, we should be closer to 92.5% rather than maxing out like we are... allegedly

So based on the above info, the most a 1st year player can earn in theory is $192,810, but this requires them to be pick 1 and play every game including all pre-season games and finals.

For a second year, first round selection player with a strong (16+ game) first year the maximum would be $241,045 before bonuses.

The sheer flexibility of these pay scales would wreak havoc at the selection table if you're close to the cap.
