Ooh and Bell. But he's not surprisingly awesome - he's just generally awesome.

Can't have 2 blokes in the forward line who can't kick and throw in Cripps (not havIng a go at Cripps he was awesome today but his set shots for goal over past few weeks are not crash hot).
Don't let the score line fool you, how many goals from inside the goalsquare, take out the easy goals which won't happen against the good teams and the goal/point ratio not so good.
Gotta nail those set shots, they should be your bread and butter goals.

Jones might have a spell for Watson next week, who got 3 goals in atrocious conditions today. Casboult's there to ruck, going at least ok there, getting touches and marks. Jones and Henderson are the KP players.

Happy to turn the game around near 70pts after the 20 min mark of the 2nd qtr.

Just back from the game, a few impressions:

Before the game I was watching Bell and Hendo warming up. I was surprised at how poor Bell's skills were - he fumbled, missed hand passes and was generally a standard below Hendo. Great to see he turned it around come game time.

Have to disagree with posters here, I thought Murphy's game was fantastic. The scragging and off the ball harassing of Murph just didn't stop; every time he got near the ball St Kilda seemed to wholly focus on stopping him, but again and again he got to the ball and got a clean possession away. Clearly BOG for me

iMO Rowe had an absolute shocker. I imagine he would be really disappointed with his game today, some of the worst clangers that brought back memories of the bad old days 10 years ago.

What's with the tactic in the first quarter of continually hand balling backwards when under pressure? We did this on at least 4 occasions in Q1, it looked St Kilda were waiting for it and just kept running forward and tackling again and again until the inevitable turn over. Don't we practice any other tactics when under pressure?

Great to sing the song! Quite a few Carlton supporters there but expect Saints would be disappointed with overall turn out. St Kilda need to actually win games if they want to build a strong fan base in NZ, can't see that happening any time soon

Give it a rest synbad. You couldn't be more obnoxious by re-posting the same opinion over and over.

Lol.

Lucky I don't get a woody out of beating st kilda and getting sent over to new Zealand to play in front of ten thousand on the big Anzac day clash....
Lucky you...!

Out of interest, when was the last time you got a woody sailor man? You sound very frustrated.

Great little summary.

I am right there with you in regards to Murphy. Thought early he was the one responsible for the backward ball movement. It was like he was channelling his inner Carrazzo. The saints were onto it. Saw Mick losing it after one around mid first quarter. Murphs next two touches were the complete opposite. He went straight at our end with gusto. Really dug in. Others followed and the game turned.
From then on Murphy copped a beating. He took it for the team and by midway through the third he looked to be thriving on the attention and his game lifted another cog.
Wasn't his best game and he still is missing polish and true form but for mine he had a really good captains game.

I wonder if there will be a hue and cry over the saints player who gave Murphy a right hook to the guts as there was over Yarran smacking a bloke he was going toe to toe with.

According to the commentators he will at worst get a fine.
Two sets of rules, wonder if Mr. Goddard thinks it's a bad look for the game?

I saw Boeky blowing up in time on of the first. I like what i saw of him up til that point.
How long until he gets a tank? 1 or 2 more pre season?

One I reckon, if he plays 10 games in the top side this year.
I'll give Mick some credit here. It would have been very tempting to play him as sub.

No point BB playing as a sub because they need to build his tank. Sub doesn't improve his fitness and playing magoos takes a much lower level.

..2/3 preseasons for him to run out a game strongly, add another two if you want him running efforts like simmo/everitt all game long, which I think he will eventually do.. ..looks like a natural runner, but he's like any other kid starting off a low base.. ..you might think I'm being way too conservative but you've also got to consider he will need to add muscle.. ..it won't only be a running program.. ..and factor in a setback due to injury, that's just doing the odds..

....to be running like an elite ball carrier..?.. ..four to five years, yes.. ..think of all the kids over the years when drafted, and they usually are running the big km's by 22ish..

Mate, no ones popping the champagne and talking Flags on the back of this win.
But we should enjoy a win and feel happy about the good games by some new kids.
Yeah games like these we're walk overs in the old days, but that's been our problem. Always harping back to the old days.
Our team is at a stage where we re going to lose more than win. We ve got some tough times ahead until we can pull ourselves out of this sh1t.
We re going to suffer through the bitter defeats, so we should enjoy the spoils of victory (especially when we get to see positive glimpse into the future)
But if you want to be negative and bitter about everything, keep going.
Your one man fan club must be proud.

Ok enough BKB; you are throwing around a lot of fanciful comments this month and this one is just ridiculous.

It does not take that long to develop elite fitness. It can be achieved in much less time simply by being studious, with good support staff surrounding you. He is certainly ahead of most draftees and not far behind being a regular contributor.

Until then you will see him take a week off to rest or get subbed early. You won't even notice it being an issue by the end of the season if he's taking his football seriously.

..no worries, we'll all just have to wait and see on this one.. ..it's only the very top shelf talent that become a seasoned runner under 22.. ..bombres excepted.. ..the only kids that are running hard all game long week in week out are those that hit the system with an elite fitness base to build upon.. ..rare, and BB certainly isn't one.. ....it's not just running, it's the complete game.. ..he has to build strength, and develop his core.. ....he has to become strong enough that he can be involved in all the hits and knocks and bumps and tackles, all the contested situations without draining fitness from running ability.. ..it took walker a few years and he's a running machine..

....I really think people expect too much too soon.. ..i'm not saying he won't play, but the question posed was when he can run out games and I said a couple of years, three to four for him to be running like simmo..
