Thought that also, was there anyone in the heatley stand section yesterday? Round 3, our 2nd home game of the season against a hated rival & we can't crack a crowd of 60k even!

I know lots of Carlton supporters like me who made the decision not to attend a game we play against drug cheats when the insufficient evidence verdict was announced.

Sad but true

Yep.
Im not going back while Hird is coach.

This point was conveniently overlooked by the 3AW pre-game show, who were completely "baffled" why the crowd was so low given the AFL's "efforts" to make the game more "fan friendly".

They couldn't understand why the cheaper food, better pre-game entertainment, a fan friendlier game start time didn't result n a full house at the MCG on Saturday.

Of course the "Good Ole Boys" made no mention of fan disenchantment as a result of Essendon*** being allowed to get away with flagrant performance enhancing drug doping.

That was my silent protest, though the AFL don't give a stuff. Went to watch my daughter play netball, and didn't even watch the rest of the game on tv. Actually, I don't even know what the score is .

I should have stayed away. Copped an arrogant smart arse behind me just baiting and mocking. I made a comment, he retorted with B/S. And then kept baiting the rest of the day. Reckons their slime are "the envy of all other club supporters" because they have been able to withstand the "pressure" and come out with a solid team of mentally tough hombres. It was enough to make you pewk.

Fair to say he went a bit quiet in the final quarter, and even started sledging his so called "mentally tough hombres" lol.

Was a bad experience on Saturday. Don't think I'll attend another one of their games in a loooooooooong time.

I also stayed away. I resolved to do that immediately after our game against them last year when I was reported by Essendon* supporters in the MCC to ground staff for abusive language. The so-called abusive language and behaviour was calling them cheats and booing Jab Watson when he got the ball. That's it.

It's the first game in person against Essenscum I've missed in 10 years ... except the one with the Walker hanger ... I was listening in live from New York at the time. The club still gets my money for the game via my membership so I can live with not having to endure the smugness from the document destroyers. I have barely taken in any football media this season on TV or radio, something I did regularly up until March of this year. I know how Fitzroy fans must feel ... disengaged from the game you love by AFL HQ.

yeah I stayed away as well, because of the opposition. But then again, I did that last year for both games as well. So nothing new this year.

Just rewatched the first half. And this is where both sides of the coaching/player argument is really evident. As much as I've been really disappointed in the performance of the coaching panel this year, the players have let themselves down terribly. On no less than three occasions a carlton player (Gibbs twice) had an opportunity to win a contested ball, yet lost the contest convincingly because their Essendon* opponent went lower and harder and won the ball through a greater desire to contest. Nothing coaching related there, that's just player mindset and commitment to going in hard when it's their turn.

Chris Yarran referred directly to the Tribunal for striking Paul Chapman. Not able to accept an early plea.

Bad day all round

How did Gibbs get off? Goddard went down as if shot.

According to the Hun...

Quote:
The MRP said Gibbs did not hit Goddard with sufficient force to warrant a report and a downfield free-kick paid at the time of the incident was enough.

Many people on here agree with the MRP's assessment of Gibbs as a general rule

To all those people potting Gibbs ..Its pretty obvious he is still favoring his shoulder from the pre-season..maybe he should pull the pin for a few weeks?..i'd still rather he played if it will get better with time and miss a few tackles

If his shoulder is causing him to pull out of contests (or show disinterest) then he should definitely rest for a few weeks

Just bringing myself to watch the replay on FoxFooty now.

Tim Watson and the rest of the circle jerking commentators are so vomit worthy it is sickening.

He shouldn't be allowed to comment on Essendon* games it's just plain putrid.

Ha, such poor commentary, I agree. Cripps has a break out game and nobody seems to notice.

Byrne comes on and Zemplis gets so involved in his hackneyed, long-winded intro about Irishmen, he doesn't even notice Byrne get 2 touches and dash out of defence. Zemplis's main problem is that he is a d***head, the worst possible trait in a commentator. God help us when Commetti retires.

There should honestly be some sort of independent accreditation for commentators. It's such an important job and a privilege.

exactly.

even if they're polarising or nauseating (tim @#$%&! watson) in their views ... it evokes emotion from the viewer.
