Wiley looks a little like prime time Andrew Carrazo.

Its a ray of light that we have done some good recruiting over the last 2 years.

I just want to see the following backline week in, week out to give them a chance to build coherence:

B: Jaksch Jamison Tuohey
HB: Byrne Henderson Docherty

DvR to rotate through HB eventually, and if Giles' leg comes good he may release Hendo to slot into a regular forward line.

For mine, we need to get a back 6 playing consistent football together, week in, week out.time to "get it right".

Agree with comments. I prefer Henderson in defence. I think Sheehan will come in once fit. Docherty to wing or midfield role.

And Yaz running through the other wing
and really ... we sound like we're in half decent shape with that back 6 and Doc running through the flanks.

I know Mick's all about not 'gifting' games to younger players, but someone needs to take charge of selection and get Whiley in ASAP in place of one of Carrots, Ellard or Curnow. Neither of those three offer enough to see a benefit over game time to Whiley, and as soon as DVR and Boekhurst are physically ready, get them in as well.

Casboult needs to be dropped immediately. It's embarrassing that he is playing senior football. Never mind the fact he's probably the worst kick in the modern game, I can't believe how often he leads his man to what would otherwise be a one on one contest of another of the key forwards (it usually appears to be Hendo who ends up with the extra attention). He has absolutely no idea what he's doing out there. Just get him out of the team.

I agree he lacks football nouse to deliver in finals.
You can't build success with him but we don't have better at the moment and you don't quickly recruit centre half fowards. You play him because he may learn to kick (doubt it) and he is prime trade bait
Did you see who caused Henderson's first goal?
Our forward line is weak but it was weaker without him
If we bring in young kids, we need his physicality. If you are smart enough flanker you learn to rove to him.

Yarran will go, and so he should. Unless Chapman said something out of the ordinary, Carrots is right - it was an irresponsible thing for a senior player to do. Standing up for yourself is one thing, but that was just dumb, meant nothing and Yaz has let his mates down. We've lost his run and ball use for probably about a month. It's the last thing we needed.

Who replaces him? I reckon Byrne will come into the 21 and one of Tutt, Boekhorst, Buckley, Smith or DVR will be Sub. On form, it will probably be Tutt.

If Whiley's GPS numbers are where they need to be, then I could see him coming in for Curnow. I doubt MM will drop Ellard or Carrazzo. I personally didn't think Carrazzo was our worst last week, but I agree he's not the future. Our kids need to put pressure on the selectors to ease Carrazzo out of the team before the end of the year. The likes of Graham should be banging the door down. Ellard is limited but MM loves him. Having said that, if Menzel is fit it is hard to see how Ellard could hold his place. Armfield is safe for now.

Will we keep playing the extra tall? I think our group of talls are probably the least effective in the AFL at the moment. I doubt Casboult, Rowe and Jones would get a game at any other club. Our ball movement isn't helping, but they are a very uninspiring group at the moment. Jaksch is in a development year but he may well take Rowe's spot in defence. I suspect MM will persist with the 3 talls in attack = Hendo, Jones/Watson, Casboult/Rowe. They need to settle on a combination and stick to it IMO.

Warnock vs Wood. I think Warnock is the better tap ruckman by some margin. Wood did OK last week against a fairly average Essendon* ruck combination. Warnock's suspect work rate around the ground and inability to take contested marks is probably going to keep Wood in the side for now. Playing them both together isn't desirable, but we're probably desperate enough to consider dropping Casboult & Rowe and seeing how Wood goes as that forward/#2nd ruck. Casboult & Rowe don't look like kicking a bag or applying much defensive pressure in attack, so it may not be as silly as it seems?

Fine weather predicted. Anyone know much about the ground? Wide? Long? Wind sheltered?

Is Fields a chance as a roughy or is he trapped as a rookie.

Got votes in the magoos and, although he doesn't look like a speedster, he has a better kicking game (short and long) than Watson.

He's played SANFL and is a bit older.

That kick from defence to a target on the other side of the ground or the corridor is becoming one of the most important disposals in the modern game.

A guy who can see an option that takes some courage to target and hit it as well is a very valuable.

Chris Yarran referred directly to the Tribunal for striking Paul Chapman. Not able to accept an early plea.

Yarran decision, what a joke. In the past I'd get all worked up about it, now I just shake my head and laugh. Corrupt mob.
