Tradeables:

Henderson
Murphy
Gibbs
Yarran
Menzel
Kruezer

Look to trade 1-2 at right price for early picks and/or young talent

Delist/Retire:

Carrazzo
Judd
Curnow
Watson
Armfield
Dick
Holman
Ellard

Upgrade:

Byrne
Sheehan

Ideally we will be looking for about 8-12 changes to the list.

Reckon Watson has not been given enough consecutive opportunities. I'd hold on him but I know many have made a decision on him

Curnow...possibly delist then pick up if nothing available with a pick 100
Can still perfom a straight tagging role...just dont give him pacy players to tag.

The rest I agree (although would not like to lose Henderon or Yarran...but if the right deal is done??)

Kreuzer is a free agent so if he leaves it wont be via a trade.

May as well just keep Kreuzer. Any FA deal he gets won't attract decent compensation. Two year deal to see if he can get his body sorted.

Given he is restricted we should only match offer if we think we'll get a second Rd pick or higher.

Knowing Kreuz though he won't even look at other teams' offers.

you may laugh at this, but i still honestly believe Kreuz can be one of the best rucks in the comp within 2 years IF (big if) he can get his body right. he has all the makings; skill, super competitive spirit and high work rate.

keeping in mind that ruckman develop late i still think he's worth keeping, espeically if we actually play him in the ruck where he belongs rather then in the forward lines where he looks like a fish out of water...

I think most AFL clubs have forgotten how to draft good ruckman, or don't feel it's worth the investment to generate a game breaker at the position.

How wrong they are, and Kreuzer is in a great position to turn that on its head if he can get fit.

He's only 25 as well... there's time for him to grow with the team over the next 5 seasons.

We do need to draft in a few young future prospects though, and begin developing them.

Whatever decisions they make, we can take comfort that they were made inside the Club's new "Centre for List Management Excellence" - http://www.footyalmanac.com.au/notes-on-a-rebuild-and-then-i-go-and-spoil-it-all-by-saying-something-stupid-like-centre-for-list-management-excellence/

Here's my two cents.

No point parting with Kreuz. Wont get us his worth on trade table due to injury issues.
Murph has currency. Former AA, Club Captain, contracted, would be a gun in a Club with a deep midfield. Also 28 this year, so will be in his last year or two when rebuild is done, so lets cash in now while we can.
Gibbs, Kreuz and Hendo are still young enough to be around 28-29 y.o in 3 years time, with some footy still in the tank. Don't trade. We need some senior heads in the future.
Decent late teens to mid 20s crop now in Doc, Everrit, Yazz, Jacksh, Byrne, Cripps. Menz, Bucks, Smith. DVR an Boek who will be a round in 3 years.
Warnock, Armfield, Wood, Ellard, Simpson, Judd, Walker, Carrazzo, Jamison, Thomas, Watson will be gone when 'rebuild' is done.
Levi I ll give him this year.. If no significant improvement, see ya to him also...

Kreuz I'm happy to part with provided there's a better option on the market at the end of the year.

Virtual straight swap for Leunenberger? Deal.

Other free agents? Bellchambers, Sandilands, Dawson Simpson, Jamar, not so much.

There isn't.

I'd rather re-draft...

I'd honestly throw Sandilands a two-year deal if we're not solid on mature options outside the league, and Kreuzer isn't 100% at the end of the season. We're dreaming if we want to retain Wood and Warnock any longer.

Isolated context, yep, Sandilands. Handy.

Think it would cost overs to bring him across that we don't need to pay, and upsets the TPP unnecessarily.

Overs compared to Warnock and Wood's combined contracts versus Sandilands and two draftees?

We'd have money still on the table at the end.

He's 32 now, and widely reported to be on 7 figures a year.

It'd have to be a substantial deal to convince him to pack up his family and move to Melbourne for what would be about 2 years. Agree re: Warnock, don't think Wood would be on that much as a rookie.

Wood would be on substantially higher money than a typical rookie, but I'd be shocked if Sandilands would take a deal anywhere near the seven-figure category.

He'd be lucky to produce 30 games over the next 2 seasons.

I'm not suggesting his final contract will be anywhere near it, more saying that the bloke is well and truly set up for life post-football, what's the motivating factor for him to come to Victoria for 2 years?

I don't recall any puff-pieces about what he does outside football, how does ruck coach sound?

If not us, he'd be readily tapped into a larger market for his services. We'd help him facilitate the initial move to a life after football.

..clubs know how to draft good ruckman, but they aren't patient enough in their early years to limit their afl exposure.. ..leuey and krooz should be tearing the comp apart, but both were rushed and suffered big injuries early on.. ..the good rucks now were spuds early in their careers, and thus not being good enough to be played early has helped them develop their body to withstand the afl once they were good enough to play (mummy, jacobs and goldy or sample)..

..leuey has had more injuries than krooz, and as such has played less games with an extra year in the system..
