Mick on radio saying the members would prefer to see him play best side and compete week in week out than play kids.

That's not what I want. I want to see kids and hope for the future, a plan.

I am critical with mm but l do agree with him on playing the best team available. It is round bloody 3 and you cant just play the kids for sake of it. Lets play half our vfl team, that is great. lose by 1million points and have no people rock up or sign up for memberships next season.

And if your rebuilding, you want to be playing your senior players anyway to get their value up. Come trade time, you might get some trades for picks.

Our team is that bad at the moment that if you cant get a game, then maybe your not good enough. Mm surely wont stop playing a kid if he is knocking the door down :)

i honestly can't see how that = not a fan of bucks. he was bog average v WCE in NAB and for the next 3 VFL matches. first good week was last week against AIS squad. whereas Byrne had a great NAB series and went back and played his role in the VFL.

Buckley could have filled the role Smith played, and offered the team far more. That's a bullshit excuse which Mick is the master of offering.

there is no conflict in their mixed messages between the two

That's how I read it as well, MM basically said that the youngsters will get there chance but they have to earn it whilst it is so early in the year, we do have one new face today.

buckley is the small we're screaming out for. fast, agile and creative, and will apply tackling pressure to at least stalling the other team from marching it coast-to-coast for easy scores as has been the theme on this season so far.

he's aggressive too, which at last count would mean we'd have at least one aggressive player in our 22.

our match selection committee -- and i get the feeling mostly MM with the final call on players -- are driving me nuts with their selections.

In a side lacking run and some excitement you would think Buckley would be playing. Looked good last year in defence until injured.

Sometimes I think coaches look at the negative in players rather than the positives they bring to a side. Buckley running out of defence certainly gets the Carlton crowd involved.

yeah if his dad was anyone else.. he would be exactly who he is now...
a guy that doesnt have a tank after 4 years in the system... and cant find the ball... but has great pace and a penetrating kick when he gets it...
often tries to do too much..

he cannot be worse than ellard, curnow or smith. surely? his upside is surely more. runs at players and breaks lines.

As others have pointed out... if we play kids and finish bottom 4, we'll be lucky to break 30k members next year.

When you're a poor performing club, the kids are supposed to be the shinning light at the end of the tunnel.

Burn those kids before they're ready and there's no light, no hope... just despair.

Haven't seen much of the two's but one thing that does annoy me more than anything, is not playing someone that's 'knocking down the door'.

If I see that occurring then I'll turn on the coach as well.

He was talking to Trigg and slobboing even more than usual.

You know the stuff, trying to make a point about something and dragging in examples that have no relevance, make no sense and leave the interviewee thinking that he's a complete flower.

Hardly a glowing endorsement of MM from Trigg.
