Isaac Smith - running machine - didn't debut until round 7 and even then was in & out after that for a bit.

Why is it such an issue Boekhorst (who Rogers said on draft night needed to work on his tank before he could play) isn't in the team at rd 3?

Walker has played 1 game in 10 months (and that was against 16 year olds). We're asking a lot of him.

We're rushing Walker back. Not sure it's the best thing for him. He'll be majorly underdone. A fair bit of desperation about that selection for mine.

The non-selection of Buckley is odd.

I would have liked them to persist with Tutt rather than bring in Armfield.

Cripps will probably be the Sub, but I would like to see him shoulder to shoulder with Jobe at the opening bounce. 10-15 minutes a quarter running against Jobe will be good for his development.

Does Hendo start forward or back?

Walker seems right to go; Buckley non-selection was odd; Tutt selection was an attempt to add to midfield run, failed horribly; Cripps shouldn't be sub, Ellard hopefully; Hendo should start back.

Jones was very lucky. If Menzel was fit I think he might have missed out.

I like your positivity but the major difference is Smith debut was for a team that played in a prelim that year and 3 consecutive grand finals since...

As it stands Boekhorst can't break into a side that's playing like wooden spooners.

Can't believe we drafted a 21 year old mature ready made player (with our first pick) who isn't even an emergency.......
Boekhorst plays vfl whilst Ellard, Curnow, Armfield and Carrazzo continue to deliver ordinary performances....
Mick complains about a lack of runners, believe Buckley would help that along with Boekhorst.....
Tutt gets one game then axed, pitty the same doesn't apply for others that get a free ride..
Typical carlton/Mick cracking team selections....

He hasn't done enough, nowhere near it.

Exactly. Don't complain about free rides and then suggest BB should be given a game regardless of his Bullants form

Great rebuild, WTF are Ellard and Army doing in the team :banghead:

Ellard remaining is pure madness. Is Buckley injured ?

Ellard played on Hurn and did his job

Buckley is quick, Buckley is the future, Ellard is none of that. There have been a million AFL players who got delisted after only "doing their jobs". He gives us zip other than doing his job.

They won't be holding a kid back, they'll be adding a dimension to the team: speed.

Isn't Walker in my side? Armfield is average and isn't the future.

The next three years isn't about winning for me. It's about developemnt and buidling the next great side. To do that we need as many games into kids as possible to develop them and see if they are good enough.

You're right. Armfield isn't the future.

But against Essendon* we should be picking a team that has a chance, albeit slim, to beat the drug cheats. A slim chance is all we need. Gives some a reason to watch.

Go Blues.

this team has proven time and time again, that it cannot cope with any kind of expectation placed on them. this time, they are expected to deliver the most basic of those- to have a crack. My expectation is that they'll fold like a pack of cards, and for Murph to enjoy a joke after the game with Jab.

Don't care if we win or not. Will make no difference to the future. Short term pain for long term gain is the way I look at it.

Seen Hurn striding through the middle and delivering to the forward 50 in just about very WCE game we've played..I was lamenting it. In the pre game thread...so I too am happy with Ellard.
Yes he JUST did his job, but if 3/4 of the team managed that we would have killed them.

Agree that Ellard and Armfield are not the future BUT I think they are the MESSAGE

Why would they play Jaksch in the VFL? If he's fit, surely he plays against the scum?

I'd like him in the 1's as well, but playing devils advocate; returning from a rib injury you'd think maybe he'd be lacking a bit of confidence. Maybe it's a good idea to ease him through the 2's to get it back.

It's revenge time for Carazzo. He needs to smash as many of these flowers as he can.

A juiced up flower rammed him onto the MCG turf and he went from a surprisingly very effective and dare l say it critical component of our midfield to a very average footballer struggling to keep up with the game.

You know your finished so just punish a few: Jobe & Heppell for a start.

Maybe they - *gasp* - think we're too tall right now and prefer Jones up forward and Henderson in defence? :P

And at 3/4 time run through the U.S. postal team huddle and grab onto Hirds ears and slam his face into the ground....

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned elsewhere (apologies if it has) but effectively, doesn't this match effectively bookend this sorry saga ? Isn't it the case that in this round three years ago we saw Carrazzo pummeled into the ground by a juiced up Lonegan which led to the initial WTF questions being asked by CFC?

While i won't/can't bring myself to watch this game because of the distaste that THAT retched club has left me feeling of this competition, I would love to hear about Carrots having returned the favor on say Melksham...

Vigilante justice I say....

Just wondering, how likely is it that we'll get an audible jeer by Carlton supporters against players or Hird - or are we likely to see the AFL's mission to sweep this under the carpet start to take its desired effect?
