Seeing this thread is the worst idea I have ever seen, I'll go all out and say we should just bite the bullet and merge with Essendon* ....

you have added sfa

apart from adding sfa you have added more sfa

give us the demographics and the cultural inertia that will make this thing work for north supporters and carlton supporters

club was smart enough to say we will dominate it.. and that wont work for the comp or north

as well as that... in a world where there is no soul in footy.. youre saying even less soul is what the game needs and this club needs

where are your figures??

do you have a business plan???

or is this some kind of wild guess on the back of a half a dozen beers

show us the thought... come on...

is that the extent of your thinking capacity??

merging with north is our way forward??

whos going to run the club???,,,

is it a new club.. or do we merge the histories???

lol

is pagan a club superstar coach again??
did barassi never leave in the early seventies???

i can imagine moving to nz and doing this to give the auckland blues instant identity and heritage

are you sure you thought this through.. or is this the ass end of a bender session youre having with club

answered ....???

pfffffffffffffffffffft

lol

Business plan?

You've lost your marbles.

It's a discussion thread on TC.

See it's easy Synbad, you shoot your load when things like this get discussed because you can't talk about it.

Doesn't fit your view of the world, which is it's all shit......shit..shit.

You're angry Synbad and that makes you foolish, when you could jut say I disagree because of this or that.

Keep getting angry Synbad.

Why does discussing it make you angry?.

Mergers and re-locations are a fact of life for many sporting codes, particularly where there isn't a division set up. The entire A league didn't exist a few years ago. NRL clubs merge, some have even won flags.

Why does discussing this make you angry Synbad.?

why not fix this already genuine club... instead of the shortcuts and bandaids we keep throwing on it hoping some of them will stick???

the get rich quick schemes...

artificial north carlton kangaroos..

yeah.. the only good thing about it would be the flower mascot.....captain kangaroo bouncy hover

thats it!!!

Hey, there ya go!

Wasn't hard was it?

Who knows how it would have ended up.

What would be an even more interesting outcome is if the merger had never been discussed.

What if the Hawks dismissed it out of hand, like you do. The fury of Don Scott ripping the jumper to shreds may never have occurred, the galvanizing of the supporter base may not have happened.

The Hawks may have drifted in the same manner we have been.

For me this club needs something to either get excited about or furious about. You wanted that too if I remember correctly.

I know i dont look at Brisbane and think artificial.
Sydney? nope. Power? West coast? nope nope nope.
Barely even see GWS and Goldie as artificial and they have only been around a few years.

The kids these days dont care about our "rich history". Give a team with cool colours that wins shiny cups and they are on board.

There will be nothing considered artificial about the mighty Northern Blues as they rip teams apart on the MCG in front of sell out crowds week in week out.

yes..the hawks may have drifted by not taking a short cut to artificialdom....

lol

yeah......

they might have....

so whats that say that they didnt???

they were not as big as we were then.....

theyre huger now.. by NOT taking the road to artificialdom

name me a club thats merged and become a powerhouse AFL club

there needs for you to spit out a precedent....

mergers are the last resort.....

a real succeess story

i can see success stories of clubs that have never merged... but the only thing i know about mergers is this

poor swans supporters..... their club was crap and they didnt have supporters and were merged

poor lions supporters ..... dito

whilst both of those remnants have moved on to flags... what a pitiful existence they have and wait for it

they get the *

yes the *

Carlton *
North MElbourne *

Surely you recognise the importance of Don Scotts fury in galvanizing the Hawks?.

That merger was going to happen without his intervention as sure as Aust were going to win that WC qualifier until that bloke ran on the field.

Why? Because the Hawks didn't think they had the answers, they thought it was the easy option it took the fury of the supporter base to make them who they are today.

Anyway, there are precedents in NRL. The two sides up there made from mergers have existed for 15 years, with some success.

AFL , Brions , three flags.

That is the sort of 90's thinking that is holding the blues back. The sort of thinking that will stop any idea from getting off the ground and we will be stuck being mediocre forever. Are you a Pratt or a Matheson ?

Its 2015 mate. Things change quickly.

Some Melbourne clubs are going to combine to become one in the afl in the next 10-20 years. Some will do it because they are stuffed. They will get gobbled up. Others will be smart and take advantage of an opportunity that presents. It wont be us because in the 90's it was called merging and was seen as a last resort.

Melb must be the most competitive sporting city in the world.

AFL clubs won't just be fighting other clubs, they'll be fighting A league clubs and other sports. It's a business in a cut throat market.

You mentioned the recession the other day and I agree, it will make any growth almost impossible. We might claw back some of the support we've lost, but will we ever be a great club?. Whats the catalyst? When the @#$%&! does it start?

If the merger meant we had the same boobs running the merged club that run it now it would be doomed to failure because they are lazy thinkers.

So your main problem is with the idea is about identity?

It's an artificial club that's not Carlton anymore, is that the problem?

I understand that. It's why I would prefer to remain US.

But something has to change then, at board level or maybe at the grass roots. When does that happen?

Who's leading the charge? Where's our Don Scott?

We don't have one, nobody gives a @#$%&! that's why our friends on the board do as they please.

i prefer to have this club make the changes to reassert itself

this board cant do it...

but im sure someone can

but i reclon a massive amount of members wouldnt follow an alien artificial club from both sides

but with the added bonus that youll never be going back if it fails....

craziest idea i ever heard from either you or club...

but i know club is winding us up... but you believe him...

Not your best post. You are doing the laughing thing with Hahahaha and the likes but not really saying anything.
It makes you come across as rattled. You have even invented your own name for the club that hasn't been mentioned once in this thread just so you can follow it up with ....well.....nothing really. Not good.

I really feel you are pissed off because you are not the one to create such discussion and you have been forced into fighting for the very club you have spent the last decade or so hating on. That is a good thing in the grand scheme of things and i am glad you are at that point but the laughing posts are not much chop. You are confused and your last post reflects that.

I am going to check out of this thread now as i just got an abusive and aggressive pm from the poster Wow Jones and i am not sure that is what any of us sign up for.

It's a topic Synbad.

I'm pretty sure club thinks it's worth discussing, but he may be having fun at the same time.

It's keeping me entertained.

And Wayne Carey would be our greatest ever player and iconic club figurehead. How does that sit with you BG72 and em20?

Worth throwing this up though Rob. No one wants a merger if there is hope for a resurgence. Hawthorn on the brink with Melbourne but now a standalone powerhouse. It will be harder into the future however.
