a few points
1. our list is shit. this is an undeniable fact.
2. MM has come up with a game plan he thinks the list can execute and be competative
3. right now they are not executing the plan. or rather. it is easy for opposition teams to pick apart.

so our output is the some total of these 3

point 1 is the most important fact to acknowledge and address. define what type of list you want and then get there as fast as you can. so what list do we want? the person who most influences this definition is the most important decision the club will make.

so coming back to MM.
yes he can coach. he does not last this long if we cant. but is he the right coach for Carlton going forward? this is what the board need to answer.

Personally I would not go with Mick. Like i said not because he cant coach. But i think our rebuild is 3-5 year commitment and Mick will be too old to see it through. I would select someone who is aligned to our view of a list and invest in term to be our rebuild coach. save some cash on a younger coach and reinvest in development instead.

I guess they need a tiebreaker. There's a few people out there who might be prepared to roll up their sleeves.

Tiebreaker is the new President.

Let's hope so!

Whether he has impact is yet to be seen.
I have been told he means well, is respected by all and wants to make a positive impact.
I don't think he's as ruthless as he should be, but it's little steps.
Not Saying any more than that. I'm just waiting to see how season unfolds.
I live in hope.

I'd like to see more desperation from players insisting commitment from each other, and no shortcuts.
Coach to allow players to be more attacking, with a bit of run: Ellard Carrrazo Curnow Cripps White are plodders and I'd replace all with speed except for Cripps.

The most disturbing thing for me last night watching Mick after the game was I actually felt sorry for him.
Here was the most pompous self centered arrogant bloke ever to be involved in Carlton who has single handedly turn this team into a basket case.
A bloke getting a million a year and I felt pity for him.
He was clueless and admitted he had no answer for the Rosa move also showed a complete lack of knowledge for the playing group.
It was sad to watch made me sick in the stomach

Spare me the drama, so Mick doesn't know his playing group because in his press conf he could identify many of our leaders, um maybe because the last 2 weeks we hadn't had leadership you think he may have meant that??

We desperately need certain players we definitely need a couple of midfielders, I'm not enthusiastic about the season ahead let's see how were going by say round 8, our players being competitive and have some ticket is the least you expect..

The idea that Curnow is a plodder is a myth. He's probably a little top heavy at the moment, but his repeat efforts are some of the best in the team alongside Walker, Bell and Yarran.

I also think Mick was having a bit of a cryptic swipe at Murphy as well.. Him and even yarran with their skills dont do enough to take games on. Murphy must take that next step he is lagging behind.. A few years ago he was widely recognized as a gun mid and a game changer, we haven't seen that form for a long time. Doesn't inspire a heap of confidence in your team mates..

Yarran was doing plenty more than Murphy, and will likely be playing more through the middle next week, either him or Docherty anyway.

FMD jimmae he has stamina (a stayer) but he's not a sprinter.
No where near Walker Bell and Yarran for closing pace needed to close space or catch the opposition.

He's good in close but he can't close space. Big difference. Watch him.

Yes he's faster than Diesel the plodder, but Diesel was yesteryear.

We can't have more than one plodder and as soon as Cripps develops stamina he's my man.
If we aren't playing for a flag this year then Cripps is my man in the guts not tagging.

Whilst we need a hard tagger it seems Curnow circa 2014 is our man. In 2015 his opponent has got away from him and been damaging. His hard tag ain't working out....assuming that's his role

He'd be about average in terms of AFL pace, but his repeats are elite.

You can nitpick at individual players and the playing list, but our list isn't that bad at all. Its not great, but the list is not performing to where they should be.

Just ask yourself this question. If we appointed Clarkson, Ross Lyon, Paul Roos or Longmire tomorrow, do you think the players would be playing with the low level of intensity and effort they are playing with today? Do you think we would be a better team with those guys coaching? If your answer is yes, then there is no point talking about the playing list or individual players.

I just love how the bulldogs have won two games in a row with an unknown coach last season. Watch that game today and you notice the difference.

Debate over the future of Carlton coach Mick Malthouse continues to intensify, with club great Mark Maclure questioning whether the winless Blues have the "guts" to sack the coaching legend.

c'mon ... I've got a set of nail clippers here with more footy IQ than curnow.

there's no point having a big tank if he can't shut down his man -- which he's failed to in two games this season -- and if he can't get his hands on the footy. And of the few times he does somehow manage to get the pill, I openly cringe and gasp at what atrocities with the ball he's about to commit.

the only player worse than curnow right now is rowe.

I think Sellers is right here.
What ever your thoughts are of Malthouse what he is doing has gone horribly wrong.
He needs to be man enough to make changes but I don't think he is.
If they are going to sign him up again they need to take the tactical side of the game away from him.
They need to insist they bring in modern day assistant coaches and take the game preparation away from him.
He is good mates with Guy McKenna. I wouldn't mind if Malthouse was made a director of coaching and his roll was to mentor the coaches and the players.
But leave the game preparation to someone like Bluey .
There could even be on of the Scott brothers available next year.
Regardless of the list Malthouse tactics are not working.
He needs to be told that he has had complete control over the club for 3 years and it hasn't worked. Now we are going to keep you but we are removing part of that control

Interesting that Paul Roos blames the coaching for the Demons' abysmal drop off against West Sydney:

"It's been a pattern here over the last couple of years. They kicked nine in a quarter and six for the rest of the game, so as soon as our effort level dropped to that standard, you get smashed," Roos said.

"We tried to put one back and slow the game down, but ultimately it comes down to us coaching and obviously the message isn't getting through, and we have to coach better than we are at the moment."

Yes, but not match day coaching.

What Roos is doing is coming to the table and saying "this isn't getting through, am I doing something wrong, are you guys hearing this OK? How can I help?"

That's being a good manager of people, the trick is not to let the nastier types knife you when you do that and cite you as incompetent.

While we're at it, who is Maclure a puppet for?

Quote:
"The leadership is not strong. They lose their way because ... a bit of diversity comes their way and all of a sudden things change [so] they say: 'I can't play anymore'," Maclure said on ABC Radio.

Pretty confident based on the follow up quotes that he actually said 'adversity', but that made me laugh. Well done to you and your editors Pierik.

the worst decision malthouse has made was to put a meek little mouse with no heart for the contest and no desire to win, as captain.

the flow on effect this has had, has turned us to jelly.

That's a bit harsh Braithy ...... he does OK at the coin toss

I was a big fan of Murph in his early days but I think he's gone backwards since the collarbone/head injuries. Even then I didn't think he was captain (leadership / field marshall) material and now even more so. He needs a massive confidence boost just to get back to playing his best football. Can only hope he can do that. Perhaps relinquishing (big move) the captaincy might help.

As for captain, although injured, Kreuz could be an option. He does put everything on the line. May not talk much but definitely gives a shit (as do Simmo and Walker).

Yeah gotta love the huddle before the game on CH7. They showed Carrots doing all the talking before the break of the huddle. Gibbs in his first season was a better leader than Murphy at the club now. Still remember him cracking the $hits
