White will miss at least one game. Whiley isn't fit yet. Graham isn't ready yet and is playing the role Ellard did in the VFL a few years back; needs to show more than the ability to accumulate with the benefit of AFL training schedules behind him.

Watto didn't do enough on the day and needs more time to find form. We can afford to lose two talls without hurting our structure.

No love for Byrne?
Yeah, put him in.

Play them anyway, try them out. not worried about how ready they are. We're not winning anyway.

We could actually, but we're yet to have a fully fit 22.

Reckon we could do with some lube-all-plus next week but these flowers have all the stash.

After watching us for 2 weeks in a row I just can't see how we're going to manufacture a winning score.

Bombing it forward to pack situations is 50/50 at best. No Betts, No Garlett to feed off any packs leaves us with who should a mark fail to stick?

But if a mark does stick, the likely candidate is Casboult. Again 50/50 at best if he kicks it or not.

Why does any of this matter?

Because if the game is won and lost in the center, and you've worked your backside off to get it forward and it comes screaming past to the other end, as a center player, you'll find yourself running to both ends of the ground repeatedly.

Besides the obvious physical exhaustion running forward and back for 4 quarters will have, the psychological impact of hard work moving the ball forward for zero return, will also take a massive toll.

As an example, the Eagles center do the hard yards to move the ball forward and are rewarded by watching their full forward slot through 10 majors. You think that doesn't lift players understanding that their hard work is worth the effort?

Yet we put in exactly the same workload in for a 50/50 at best, and watch the ball come screaming back the other way and that's not going to impact players ability to maintain their composure and cost them physical energy (without reward) chasing the other way?

Its about reward for effort.

The current structure we have forward is not offering much reward for effort. Continual 50/50 chances that more often than not resulting in points, or worst, coming back the other way does absolutely nothing for our confidence or belief the effort is worth the reward.

We can shuffle team lists all we want, but until we have a working forward set up that produces results, imho, we'll just continue this merry-go-round of ins & outs and humiliating loses.

Make us work hard moving the ball forward for little reward, and make us work harder chasing it back and we'll throw in the towel pretty quickly. Two weeks has shown this thus far.

Betts, Garlett, and Waite provided reward for effort. Casboult 50/50 at best. Who else do we have? Like I said, I can't see us manufacturing a winning score.

 well put idle

can you put some numbers or percentages behind those educational comments so some can understand what it's like to play this incompetent game plan

Out: Curnow, Ellard, Jones, Wood, White.
In: Buckley, Whiley, Boekhurst, Warnock, Watson.

Just do it for Flower's sake. We are not going anywhere with those players omitted. Watto kicked four on them last time, Whiley helps the inside mids to release Murphy, and Vuckley and Boekhurst have leg speed. Who cares if we lose, we can't bet any worse surely lol.

Warnock's injured MIL. Whiley's not running out practice matches yet. Armfield kicked 4 in 100 minutes of football. Walker gathered 29 touches in 3 reduced quarters.

Criticism of Jones after 20 inside 50s in 3 quarters is over the top. He was pick 46. If he is a bust we havent given up much

Putting the Skills and Team depth/Injuries aside, One has to ask " What on Earth have those players been doing all pre-season??

How could an entire team not be able to finish off Games two weeks in a row? How could so many players completely die out after only 1 Quarter? How could so many players just stop Running?

What happened to the " Best pre-season for years with very little injuries and surgeries done??? ".

Totally unacceptable.... Someone at the top has to be accountable for it....

are we the worst team in the comp right now?
that's an honest question... the only team i can think of that could be as bad as us right now is Collingwood..

early days i know, but after 2 rounds it'd be a brave man to honestly suggest there is a team worse then us right now.

On current results, we are. One can only hope that with a few players back by mid-season we can stay off the bottom. Aints beat Suns in QLD easily last night, bottom is where we logically sit right now.

Will Graham be ready to come on as the sub by 2019?

I am intending to go, i feel like some old testament religious fanatic who walks into the desert and subjects himself to unspeakable indignity to test his faith. My carlton faith is fading fast. I am feeling a round 2(?) 2014 bomber thrashing coming up.

Ps great line about US postal Duke!

What about Cripps & Walker?
I'd drop Smith as well - he looks OK however not ready for AFL yet.
Warnock would need at least 1 VFL match before returning - think I prefer Wood anyway.

Ok...agree re Knockers. Army is a proven liability even though fast enough. If Walks is ready then play him up forward where he played his best ever season ?

He'll be rotated into the side as the year goes on... go name your best 22 at peak form and see where he fits in. He doesn't sadly, we need some wheels and he sits behind Curnow, Murphy, Cripps, Gibbs, Simpson, Walker, Tuohy, Docherty and Yarran for the other roles.
