I'm not a huge fan of David King, or AFL 360 for that matter.
But tonight he was on with Mark Maclure, and he said what Carlton needed was an "intervention" of a good friend to tell them how bad things really are, because no-one at the club realizes or wants to realize.
Maclure just nodded sagely.
I saw that and I agreed with what he was saying.
For once it was Maclure and not him taking a sledgehammer to the Club.
Why cant Macca or Trigg or Mick just come out and say we re rebuilding. I for one didn't expect to make finals, but hoped for 10-12 wins with the kids showing some promiss. Whether that's enough to give MM a new contract I don't know.
We ve had to patch up the list to deal with the shocking recruitment of the past hence bringing in guys like Jones, Whiley, Doc, Everitt, Tutt, etc.
Just say its going to take time to fix the mistakes of many years of bad recruiting. Only an idiot would think that you can get rid of 50% of your list over two years and go BANG! and be an awesome team straight away.
There is light at the end of the tunnel... We ve got a good bunch of kids coming through for the first time in a while. We need to get everything right in terms of player development and recruiting from now on. No room for errors.
The main problem, and its been mentioned over and over again, is the mixed messages coming out from the coach and the club. They come out at the start of every year and talk finals, and most people get sucked in. So then when we end up not being that good, but playing to the level that we are really at, a lot of the nuff nuff supporters go ballistic (hene the overreaction after only 1 game).

Handy banana to have 3rd in line really.
So your lauding a guy who isn't seen as even good enough to be an assistant coach, but a 3rd in line ?
The Hawks proffered to put that smiling Tassie dude who had no AFL coaching experience in charge rather than Ratts when Clarko was sick last year.
That's says it all.
