Who would have a clue where we are at?
Patrick Cripps wouldnt. He was our best performed player in the NAB challenge and he couldnt get a look in the centre square Thursday. The kid has just come offf 32 possessions, strong tackles and clearances against Geelong and they dont have faith in him to play in the middle. :?
Weak as piss. I'd rather win 6 games playing the youngsters where they can develop than win 10 games running multiple taggers and leaving players like Cripps on a half forward flank.
At least give the kid a shot before shitting yourself and playing 4 taggers.

If we werent going to play Cripps on ball, it would be better to play Tutt forward. At least he would know how to make Houli etc accountable.
As for the misguided theory that Cripps cant get the ball on the spread, he had more uncontested possessions than anyone else against the Cats.
He was also our best tackler. I fail to see what message the players are having sent when decisions like this are made.
Same for the members/supporters. If I could see the players are being developed and receiving every opportunity, a transparent vision, I'd understand.
But to lose a game after playing ultra defensive without giving performing, in form players like Cripps a shot first, pathetic.

That is well said, running White, Curnow, Carrotts etc all as tags on the ball is not doing anyone any good. Multiple tags are for teams striving for ultimate success we are miles off that so run one tag and get some kids in.

The list, the list, the list

Didn’t everyone get excited about the last half of last year with the same list, sorry not even the same list we improved it immensely with our drafting and recruiting.
Didn’t everybody get excited with our improvement in the nab

One game in and everybody whinges about our list
We have holes yes but it’s not the !@#$% list it’s how it’s utilized

Players out of position
Multiple tags
No links so we stagnate to buy some time or go wide and the safety of the boundary so we don’t get scored against
Everyone looks second rate and slow when there is no movement
It’s not about leg speed as a whole it’s the defensive mind set and positioning the players are put under
Players caught behind the ball then break after break for no reward is demoralising
Players chasing tail all day takes its toll after a while
There was no fluency in our game after the first quarter and a bit we reverted back to the boundary and bomb because we didn’t have any options.
WTF is he trying to prove that the players are distracted because he hasn’t been awarded an extension
!@#$% off malthouse you egotistical arrogant prick
If he goes he’s making sure he’s taking us down with him arsehole

I didn't get excited last year about our list.

Put our Fwd line down on paper and its not even a good VFL forward line.

Simply too many players that aren't AFL standard.

We're a very poor team and I haven't been buying into the hype machine for that reason. Expected to lose on Thursday and we delivered. Our best 22 could be competitive but the match committee have no idea who the best 22 are. Wood, seriously? No Casboult?

We can field a much better team than we did on Thursday but I fear we won't see it. Even so, it wouldn't be good enough to do anything other than lose an Elimination final at best.

From Thursday... Wood, Rowe (barely), Tuohy (on form) and Smith (raw).

Add to that another four or five who can't kick nor make a decent decision with the ball, and you have a recipe for shit stew.

Yes. Club is a basket case on and off field. Will keep going each week, but with zero expectation to win against almost every club.

We might beat St Kilda.

Yep, this year will fair about as well as last year (which was awful). Not enough talent, too many holes in the list etc etc

I think you are spot on WOW.

Hey all first post on here. Looking forward to the game this Friday and the rest of the season throwing my 2 cents into the ring. I've been following Carlton for over 35 years. I know a lot of you think it's going to be the same old story this year but I think you will find you are wrong.
Just wanted to say I firmly believe the club is in a better position than last year. We will get value from Jones, Jaksch, Boekhurst, Byrne and Wiley make no mistake. Cripps, Sheehan, Menzel, Casboult, Buckley, Thomas, Docherty, Yarran all have room for a better output this year - it's not as though they've peaked. David Kings comments about him not seeing where the improvement will come from are absolutely unfounded. As are some of the comments like that on here.
I still confidently expect Carlton to have a better year bar injuries or bad luck.

Carlton have actually traded quite well in the last couple of years. And why are you negatrons forgetting that we've culled half the list of the dead wood as we should have?
What was Waite's output on the weekend? Zilch.
Go Blues!
