I expected us to beat Richmond. Partly because we were told by the club that we had changed our ways, the list changes made over summer where for the better and we came up against the most unaccountable team in the league. Deep down I had a flicker of hope.
I now truly believe our club is in a lot of trouble. More trouble than salary cap Pagan punishment years.
MM has changed the list so much that it now includes more plodders than x-factors and game breakers and the game breakers we have are a shadow of themselves. Any hope I had going into this season has truly vanished after 1 game.
This is going to now take management some real b@lls to fix but more importantly it's going to take time. This is the most crucial point. The changes made will need to be inclusive of the members to keep the faith and give us hope. Membership cannot dwindle.
No room to consider
1 loss of daisy early
2 captain not performing
3 gibbs well down
4 yarran injured
5 kj injured
6 walker missing
7 kreuzer missing
Thats a lot of fire power that just didnt perform. Yet we only lost by 4 goals.
I dont believe in excuses, but i would be rope-able if gibbs and murphy performed like that all season. Injuries are temporary.
A response to your points
1. Loss of daisy cost us the game?
2. Captain is not an A grade midfielder. Often his output is C/D grade at best. Sooner we realise that the better.
3. GIBBS had a good year last year, we need to see If he can back it up
4. What is wrong with yarran
5. KJ won't be there for weeks
6. Walker has done no preseason.
7. Kreuzer has done no preseason. Kreuzer has not proven he can play A grade football in any position
I was mainy responding to this

I feel that it is unfair to characterise our list in this way. As a way of trying to illustrate this, i mentioned a number of very good players who are not plodders etc that were either missing due to injury or were well down on form. This does not make them plodders.
We had a bad match , no doubt. But do we really know how good richmond is?
They have won 10 out of their past 11 matches. They are possibly a much better side than many think. Good sides will always make other teams look bad. Is there any real logic at this early stage of the season, to jump to the conclusion that richmond are shizenhausen?
Of course we cant rationalise every defeat like this, eventually IF these losses continue, you have to concede that there is real trouble. But until that occurs we should, as loyal supporters, give the benefit of the doubt. Its ok to be concerned and obviously dissappointed, but to describe our list in such a negative way is reactionary and disrespectful.
Amongst the lows there are some positives, you just have to look for them.
