It's Rohan Connolly but it's actually a great read.

Sounds like a club getting it's soul back.

Good article.

Good article and a great initiative from the club.

A couple of points that I took away from the story is (1) the club runs all new recruits through the tour so they understand the history of our great club and (2) Bruce Doull is a LEGEND!!

Go Blues!!

That would be because he's merely relaying other peoples words, none of his bullshit opinions

i went on this tour over the summer with my dad and honestly it was a huge disappointment. we were hoping to go into the rooms and see the old (or new) locker rooms and facilities and anything really but all it was about was walking a lap around the ground and reminiscing old times. i couldnt remember half the stories. and my dad already knew them all and could have taken me on that tour himself.

we spoke to tony after the tour who was really understanding of our feedback and explained the reasons why they dont go into the rooms or anything (mainly due to ppl taking pictures of tactics on whiteboards :S) however he did say that if we email him during the season hell do his best to organise something a little different so hopefully when the time comes he is true to his word and he did seem like a really nice bloke.

Rohan and Beast are great mates. ROHAN did the tour and really enjoyed it even though he's a koolaider. Tour is a great idea for young fans to learn some history. Unfortunately my kids will never understand the love and romance of PP. My son went to the final game when he was 5 but that's as close as he got to true passion.
The club are trying hard and whilst we might not agree with every tactic its betting than having they're collective thumbs are the clubs' ......Incidentally my youngest, who is 12 is excited by the return of Captain Carlton and the hovercraft. Different strokes for different folks.

one of the things this club neeeds to do is create more history rather than live off the past ghosts alone.Ghost watching seems to be our default position

i agree with the club needing to create more history sinners, but you dont have to bash the past all of the time. the quote in the article - ""There's a whole generation now who have no understanding of what this ground means," he says. "So many supporters who were here for that last game will tell you part of the reason they love Carlton is because of Princes Park, and that whole ritual of coming to suburban football.

"If the older, foundation clubs don't celebrate their histories, they're no different to GWS. What these clubs are built on is what they were, and I think it's important to recognise that and remember it
." - sums it up perfectly for me. i now live abroad, and was at the ground for as few of the mentioned games, and i miss it. i would love to bring my kids to a tour of this ground to share with them why the club means so much to me, and why the jumper has been so important to so many people for so long.

i agree bender... its a generation who know nothing about the club... because of what we are at present...

which is exactly my point.. when will this club create itself some new history .. instead of living in the past and trying to force feed young people with only what happened 20 years and plus ago???
if u cant see a flag in the next 10 years.,... and i cant...its 30 years....
so thats another half generation even further removed from what the club was and deeper into what the club has become.

I would assume this is a strategy to re-engage a certain segment of the market. In this case, perhaps it's the 40-60 year old lapsed member that used to attend games at Princes Park.

Similarly I would expect the club has plans for other segments.

Because, there just ain't a one size fits all campaign that's gonna titillate every segment.

Spot on.
I love this initiative...my kids may be thinking "what?"...
But they love the "ask judy man cave questions" and I was thinking "what?"
Never a one size fits all....general strategy...yes, but it then needs to have many "branches"
