Nice to see great enthusiasm for this one!

Personally I think we will finish around 13-15th so unfortunately I have Rich winning this one. I think we can push them though. Really excited to see Cripps this year.

Who will stop Cripps? He rag dolled Selwood off the ball a couple of times.

All they have on us is definitely Riewoldt, who we hold well historically, and maybe some morale. Yeah Kreuzer and Walker won't play but they have nothing but vanilla footballers beyond that group of names, Ellis and Rance (and even in it). Where the @#$%&! are Richmond predicted to finish, and why are we predicted to finish 13th?!

we'll go top 6-8 provided we don't lose much of our core for an extended period with injury.

On talent I think the top 6 is pretty much a lock, and we're in the chasing pack with about 6 other clubs. Things go right, we're in the finals.

If our list develops, we might even make week 2. It's just a bunch of lazy journalists staying the course when it's pretty clear the change of guard is going to start this season. Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn are aging because despite their efforts they haven't turned over enough of their list, while Fremantle is terribly old in key areas. North have topped up with older players so they're already in win-or-bust mode.

So basically they've said from the chasing pack of us, Essendon*, Richmond, Collingwood, West Coast, WB and GC that we automatically at the bottom. Lazy @#$%&! journalists who create jobs for themselves by diluting decent information into utter rubbish, filtering it through their own insipid club bias and then disseminating to the masses who eat it up along with their over-marketed breakfast every morning.

All this doom and gloom about the fwd line has me a bit miffed. Lacking a good small but hopefully this can be filled by Yarran or if he is needed elsewhere bucks, smith or tutt can step up. We scored well enough against the cats, just their big guys cleaned us up.

This game is massive.
Careers on the line here lose this then a trip to West followed by what most likely will be a full strength bombers then all of a sudden we are zip and 3 season over.
Bloody hope we win this

I agree with the last line, but not the rest. I don't think the sky will fall in if we lose to Richmond. We are in a development phase. Richmond should start as favourites.

That's it. Let them worry about us. We have more of the play makers. Juddy, Murph, Gibbs, Daisy, Yarran, Simmo, even Menzel and Docherty are developing.

Plus when you look at these guys plus Bell and Cripps our midfield stacks up.

...as long as our play makers know when to defend...and are close enough to them to defend when they have the ball.

Close the tiggers space and time and they will suffocate or go really wide on the MCG expelling alot of energy.

If they push our midfielders into the feet of the ruck men and stay outside, whisking the ball away at the ruck contest...like they've done for the last two years, without our mids waking up to it for a quarter and a half...I'LL SPEW UP!!!!

Brisbane and many other clubs do this to us as well. It's pathetic to watch our midfielders constantly trying to win 1v1s while the opposition work as a team.

Ratten started that bullshit and it hasn't stopped since.

Also add the fact that Knockers starts tapping it down to his shoes laces....errrr I fell a "Wallace" starting again...

The problem is that Yarran is needed coming out of defence with his run, speed and ball use. We really need two of him. None of the other three you mention have any exposed form at AFL level as small forwards, so you're just hoping for the best on the basis of not a lot. And if we're going to kick it to contests deep into the forward line as we were during pre-season then it would certainly be helpful to have a reliable small to swoop on any spillages.
