Daisy was ok, Docherty also ok.

Cripps was the standout, I am a convert to the kid as well. Super competitive, always in the coal face, hopefully he can continue in that vein.

..Jones will need to increase his work rate, and by a fair margin too.. ..he's got a bag of bad habits to rectify..

....i'd be switching Buckley to the FP.. ..Smith won't be fit enough to play regular senior footy..

..if neither watto or Jones can stay involved, I'd move Kj to take their position.. ..i'd start him fwd from the very beginning actually..

If Jones gets 2 goals on a quiet day just imagine what he'll do when he dominates !

..dawgs have been saying that for years.. ....if he can only get four touches in a flaky practice match, imagine how many touches when the real stuff begins..?.. ....six years in the system, and he is known for being inconsistent.. ....what was his off the ball work like..?.. ..how many tackles to help with fwd pressure..?.. ..zero, is how many.. ..we gave him Three years, he should be right.. .some day..

We lost the game allowing too much supply to their forwards. Need a good strategy for the real games.

..jones' best afl game is the same as watto's best afl game.. ..with more afl exposure and more years in the system.. .... ..neither are a lock in, which is why I am surprised by how many people are bullish about Jones but anti-watto.. ..I can only assume it's because so many don't know him that well as a player..

You may be onto something.

..not sure about Jones down back, but Kj forward hell yeah.. ...we have little forward talent, and if we think we can cobble a forward line of Hendo and role players, we are kissing ourselves..

Plenty of evidence yesterday to suggest that Geelong will remain the AFL's protected species in terms of umpiring.

I hate watching them play no matter who their opponent.

3 great points there bkb, especially the last - put the talent up front. Although KJ might be a little under developed physically to compete up there for an extended period

Smith was a smart and visionary selection. This kid has class and the toughness Mick gravitates to.
He'll be made to feel part of the team quickly and will be nurtured closely.
I can see Mick extracting the best out of him.
Good selection , what a steal. Ciao

Hmmm. Interesting take. You should expand on that. What do you mean? How come we're just hearing this for the first time? Where were you when we signed him? Say some more.....

In fairness to BKB he hasn't been a fan of Jones all along.
I'd never seen he play so couldn't comment other than he struggled to get a consistent game with a weaker team.
We have to wait and see but what we have seen so far it's not looking flash

have to watch the games more closely. From the little I've seen I thought Jones was providing a fair target, but if he's not doing the defensive stuff then that's not good. I trust the club to get the best out if him. Waite's defensive side was poor so at the moment he's not for a lot to replace.

Like you I see Jones providing a good lead up target. He gets up high when he has the opportunity, crashes packs and some stick. He looks better in 2015 than he did over the last 2 years, and in that time I thought he was good at the Dogs ...fo a kid.

I was speaking about this defensive issue with someone who was at games live. Interesting comment was that on TV sometimes the oppnents look closer to Jones than they were in reality. I understand that. I watched the games too and looked for the defensive issues but couldnt see them.

Im looking forward to him providing a good target amongst 3 forward targets we are lokely to have (including any 2 of Henderson, Casboult, Jaksch, Kreuzer... Walker). Im looking forward to bags from one of any of the abovementioned. None of the abovementioned are going to star every week.

Lets see what happens. Looking promising imo.

Went on Sunday (yes tragic) Jones should have really kicked 3 was an awful miss the point he kicked levi-esque - thought he had a quiet/poor game but still took a couple of strong marks and kicked a couple - agree we would want him to do better but was playing on either rivers taylor or lonigan so not playing against bad players either - didn't notice him providing less defensive pressure than any one else but at one stage we had him Rowe and Watson in the forward line talk about lumbering

What also was a good sign also is he hadn't touched the ball early but fought back into contest after that

Having said that thought it was also a good sign that after he shanked that kick he didn't go into his shell but worked to improve and present

PS saw Hendo telling him continually where he should be and played better when Hendo was in the forward line

Hopefully kick 2 0r 3 against the Tigers
