Lets see if Watson will 2nd ruck.....or Jones....or Rowe....or we'll find out Sunday.
Ruck is a bit of a worry for mine, so I'm glad Wood is on our list.

Rowe took quite a few ball-ups last week, but yes Watson, Henderson and Jones should be getting some minutes too.

Notable absentees are Gibbs, Casboult and Simpson. A couple of other surprises are Sheehan and Graham.

The squad will drop at least 3, but I think you'll see us go in with 3 on the bench and a sub or two to simulate round 1 conditions, which means at least 4 will not make the cut. I believe interchange restrictions will be in effect for this match.

Squad will look something like this IMO:

FB: Jaksch Jamison Docherty
HB: Yarran Rowe Tuohy
CC: Bell Murphy Carrazzo
HF: Thomas Henderson Everitt
FF: Watson Jones Menzel

RR: Wood Cripps Judd

Int: Boekhorst Buckley Curnow
Subs: White Tutt

No ruck division, Jimmae, your creativity knows no bounds

Disappointed Levi is not playing ... according to the Madhouse ... he needs more football.

He is a far better prospect than Watson. Who will support Wood in the ruck this week?

Few players have been penciled in to play all 3 matches, here's the list:

Tuohy
Jones
Tutt
Cripps
Yarran
Boekhorst
Smith
Curnow
Docherty
Rowe
Jaksch
Byrne
White

As you can see, it's been the defensive group and the youngsters pushing for round 1 selection (Jaksch, Bokehorst, Tutt, Smith, Jones, Byrne, Cripps) and in need of AFL match fitness who have played every game, otherwise people have been rotated in and out of the team.

Watson has that beautiful boot and a footy brain too good positive assets. We need to evaluate his potenial going forward so the exposure is vital.
If he can regain some confidence , I reckon he'll do well and should be reliable for a few goals.
One of the two big boys or perhaps both may well have to be moved on at season end, as we won't be able to keep both.
Ciao

Too right. re his 2 assetts.
He needs to adapt the latter to AFL pace and he'd be more consistent and more reliable. He's looked capable recently.

If all the KPFs average 2 goals a game, we'll retain all of them. Depth, and on the hunt for a flag and a big fish to help us along.

Hopefully Henderson shows the footy world he can lead the forward line with a few bags this year, starting tomorrow. We need a bonafide goal kicking machine chiming in for 3-4 goals a game.

What we have seen in the preseason so far is MMs willingness to throw players around, even the backline with Hendo playing there last week, Rowe to CHF (ala Carlisle), and White forward or on a wing, with Jammo and Jaksch the 2 constants in the backline (along with smaller types Yarran, Tuohy and Simpson.

Watson may even play RUCK on Sunday....swapping with Wood. Wood's had a good preseason which will keep him rucking for longer this year. Lets hope Wood doesnt get injured.

Chris Yarran to miss Carlton’s NAB Challenge clash against Geelong

A VIRUS has forced Carlton defender Chris Yarran to sit out Carlton’s final NAB Challenge game against Geelong.

The Blues decided on a no-risk policy with Yarran and the rebounding backman didn’t join the Blues’ training at Princes Park on Saturday.

So that's Yazz, Byrne, Bucks and Armfield that will be trimmed from squad of 29. Wonder if we'll play 24 and no subs again..if so one more still to drop out.

That's disappointing for Buckley. :(

Has all the tools to make a real impact at senior level; any idea what the issues are for him currently?

All teams appear to be playing squads of 24 this week.

Also we started with 27, to be culled to 24, so we're currently at 23 names. They'll probably opt to keep a name running around in the VFL and put some more miles in the legs of the senior squad players. Works out best for all parties.

If it stays at 23 this is how it will look:

FB: Jaksch Jamison Tuohy
HB: Docherty Rowe White
CC: Murphy Carrazzo Everitt
HF: Thomas Henderson Boekhorst
FF: Jones Watson Menzel

RR: Wood Cripps Judd

Int: Bell Dick Curnow Tutt Smith

Likely 4 names to come into that line up for round 1, with 5 names being pushed out. I personally think those names will be Watson, Dick, Tutt, Smith and White, which is pretty impressive considering what those names have shown for us through the pre-season.
