Yeah they're all superstars. The other teams won't be able to handle that lineup.
Get serious!

Depth today, senior players next season or the season after.

Are Thomas, Gibbs, Murphy and Judd all going to retire tomorrow? We acquired 4 talls (Jones, Jaksch, Foster, Fields) after dumping two (Bootsma, McInnes) and losing one (Waite).

So we're carrying one more tall and we've re-stocked with mids. Not surprising given we're looking for a new forward formula.

That's what I'm seeing too. Depth today, seasoned players thereafter.

What I'm excited about is the foreseeable future. Players like Buckley, Menzel, Cripps, Jaksch, Boekhorst, Docherty, Tuohy, Tutt, ALL can improve. Then add to that our experienced seasoned vets, and our mid range players like Yarran, Curnow, Rowe, Henderson and so on, I see a VERY exciting list forming nicely.

Its been a LONG time coming, but I'm finally starting to see a decent list come together. In a comp of way too many teams, scarce talent that is scooped up by the AFL and handed out to interstate love child's, we're really up against it competing against 17 other teams. What we've accomplished thus far in bringing in what we have, I'm starting to believe again.

If we can fast track a lot of their development, get them some senior action on a regular basis, even at the expense of losing games if we must, I'm all for it. Build for the future, no quick fixes, build a team all on the same page with a plan going forward. 2015, 2016, 2017 until we get it right. Enough with the sackings, turnovers and excuses.

GO BLUES!

..KJ is quality, Jones is less than 50/50 odds to come good, foster is a longshot with a stuffed back.. ..fields is another hope and pray type..

You'd have to say that, unless they fell in our lap, (i.e. pick one or Juddy) we don't have a great record at picking up good ball winning/using mids.

On the other hand, how many frontline mids are there in the comp?

Hard as hell to pick at an early age.

Don't forget this half back flankers, that you'll develop as midfielders, you just can't have too many of those.

Fields is more of a running tall than the others and Foster might have a dodgy back now but the same can be said of many young sportsmen (and women).

What you're talking about is a game that's played between the ears. Do they have the right mindset? Are they going to maintain that mindset? Do we have the right methods and attitudes about maintaining the required mindset?

The first two are difficult to predict, but with outside resources and the right investment, we can increase our accuracy there. The rest is just good practice from coaches and the FD.

Cripps, Walsh, Holman and Whiley seem like engine room types, but right now we have a dearth of speed at multiple positions, so you're seeing an influx of that with last year's acquisitions. Quick leading forwards, pacy wingers, that kind of ilk.
