Needs more but added to what worked on Sunday it's not bad and , if fit better than last year.

2014:
Judd. Not fit missed a lot of the year.
Thomas. Bloated whale had to hide him as a defensive player.
Carrots (yes I know, not my favourite either but has had some good times) didn't play.
Cripps. Hardly played last year.
BB . new recruit.

I'm a midfield fan. In fact I'd recruit mids ahead of position players but we are not the worst.

Need more mids who are smart, fast so we can keep the ball out of Tom Bells hands or better still have him in the magoos.

We knew that already, but the stocks are better than they were 12 months ago, and BB and Cripps will be upgrades on turning to Lucas and McLean over and over.

The side looks better balances, the overall pre season we have had seems good with not a huge amount of injury concerns, and we didn't fade out of the game like we were doing early on last year due to not being fit enough.

We may think we should improve but other sides will believe they will too. I mean who knows where Collingwood are in the scheme of things. Sides like Brisbane and GWS could jump up this year, really hard to pick where we will end up.

Included KJ in that list as well. It could be his 3rd year, but only played 6 games in his career. Still eligible for the rising star award i think

I didn't even think of him. Looks much more experienced than that.

..forwards need work, but our crap delivery and pick and choose work ethic mids is still the issue.

..DT isn't a mid.. ..he can rotate through there sure, but that's like running Simpson through the midfield.. .neither are mids, good flankers and will run all day.. ..but not engine room types..

Just finished watching the game a second time.

The run from defence will be a huge strength with Simpson and Yarran, then add Walker to that and the opposition wont close all of them down: Scarry proposition for the opposition.

If we only require 2 talls in defence then add Tuohy and we have a fast moving, line breaking defence.
They will set up our forwards with plenty of opportunity.

Jaksch is fantastic at 198 floating over packs with mits to mark or fist to spoil whilst Rowe and Jammo do the body stuff.
Backline looking the best since the 1995 GF line up....imo.

Cripps and Carrazzo in the engine room were really impressive. I love what Cripps does. Contest after contest he's there flying the flag. The way he uses his body and pushes smaller opponents aside to make best position....he's one smart footballer who knows how to get ball and feed it out. Carrazzo knows how to find the ball and use his body. Looked too strong for Pendles and matched it with Swan. Impressive.

Add Gibbs and Curnow to help out with the grunt work to dish it out to Judd Murphy Thomas (one of Walker, Simpson or Yarran) Docherty on the outside, and mix that up with BB and Bell and we have a midfield!!!

I love what Bell brings to the team and he should be developed in the ones not the ressies imo because it will all come together. Ive liked what he's shown in the last 2 games and his decision making will come good once the game plan is ingrained into all the team. Lovin the idea of Bell and Everitt and Walker on the wings and then cameos forward to add confusion and mismatches.

Forward KP's Henderson and Jones are mobile and strong enough to win their posts. Casboult is a gem of a mark but he must be suffering with Alzheimers because he seems to have forgotten all the tuition he received over the preseason. Lets get his kicking improved and we have a diamond in the making, let alone the fact he is our only #2 ruckman when Kreuzer returns. Warnock doesnt do much except tap so I cant see him being our #1 ruckman when Kreuzer returns.

Smaller forwards Menzel, a couple of the mids, and maybe at some stage Clem or maybe Tutt if they can find the ball more than they did and we have a dangerous forwardline. We also have the flexibility to have Walker Everitt Bell to work forward as well.

Having watched the Swans vs Freo live yesterday and all the other NAB games, I cant see how some posters see us as having no cohesion and fluency like other teams. Every game has shown a messy contest in the coalface of the midfield and it hasnt been pretty. Everyone in every team is eager to impress and I cant see how one can see other teams being more cohesive and fluent than the Blues. Tigers played a PA reserves team and carlton reserve team played against the WCE so those 2 games were nothing to draw any conclusions from. The competition is tough and it will be a battle of attrition if the ball cant be freed up for the outside runners of any team.

I think we have the personnel to make the 8 this year, and we will test every team. Add a couple more mids in 2016 and we will be a contender. Injury and attitude will determine who succeeds in the AFL jungle.

Im going to watch the first quarter again....just shows what we can do when we run run run...because we can can can.
I hope we can the can in every game and learn to close it down for periods: tempo footy, and then we've got the formula for success....imo.

GO BLUES

Maybe Bell can be played as a HFF with rotations into the midfield? Is pretty handy at finding the posts (not always in between the right ones) and can kick a few when on e.g. Gold Coast last year.

we just found a smart running tall to compliment henderson in the big man dept...and jones is going to help too
the other thing is.. there isnt a hell of alot coming through the midfield and that is where our focus just needs to be .

Not happy with BB or Cripps? One too slow, t'other too small?

They're OK... But need depth coming through and picking up the slack as players retire and get injured.
In looking further ahead than you I reckon.

What will Cripps, Boekhorst and Smith bring?

Have you been tracking Gowers, Russell, Sheehan, Buckley and Byrne's work?
