We were told the fixture would be looked at this season.

I thought I might take the Little Willies to Adelaide during the year to see what the fuss was about with the Adelaide Oval atmosphere etc.

Oh, that's right...Carlton is not going to South Australia this year - so much for thinking of the Carlton fan base there!!

We should ALWAYS play in Adelaide and Perth every season. A lot of people have supported this club and followed their stars from the west into the navy blue.

Unbelievable...

Ditto re Adelaide Oval.

Booked in our interstate games early as a treat...and NZ....Melbourne excluded because we go there regularly. We are heading to Perth, Brisbane and NZ.

Kids love the Blues supporter base in Adelaide and perth...feels like home in some sections of the audience...and you know we like to support the Carlton fans there too.

No game in Adelaiade to see the new Adelaide oval. That's crazy. Really crazy. Who holds the record for an Adelaide AFL game...that's right, Carlton!!!

WE are grateful we have 2 Carlton games in Sydney this year...but shouldnt the Carlton fans in Perth and Adelaide be looked after first?

Really should play every team twice (H&A)...and strike a deal so the MCG is available in the last week of October for the GF.

I'm not sure if it's the case but if the club thought it's best chances of winning an extra game or two affected where the games were played, I'd be ok with that.

Winning is still the priority.

I buy my membership every year for the past 22 years. What do I get for that a seat at all home games. I pay for top membership with priemium reserve seat ("thanks for the letter informing me my seat is too good so you will need to pay extra primum for it in couple years, someone with more money wants your seat that you have paid for the last 20 years")

Do I feel part of the club the simple answer no

I only hear from the club to buy raffle tickets. I'm sick of telling them to flower off

What is the incentive of being a paid member for over 20 year do I get priority grand final seat no you need to pay extra $150 dollars for that privilege.

what benefits are there for me to continue to sign every year. You need to have incentives to be a member for 5 or 10 years. Give these members something for there dedication without paying premium prices.

Don't ask me to recruit members when you treat your current members as just numbers

Fortunate for the club I will be a member for the rest of my life this is the only business that can treat you like crap and you still signup year after year.

I could easly recruit over 10 members without trying hard but I won't try and sell people something I have no faith in.

They really are a pack of @r$3holes.

As I said earlier, they act like they've got the only seats in town. I can't see the members that have been burned ever returning, me included.

It's a sad state of affairs.

It's 2015 and my kids are 25 and 22 (Jesus where did the time go  ), but there's your lost generation right there.

Whilst I've got my my memories of the halcyon days of the 60's, 70's & 80's all my kids have to show for it is a memory of the 99 Preliminary final and a "It's my club its personal T-Shirt".

If the club doesn't act now, another lost generation will take us to 2030, and that will take us dangerously into Fitzroy territory.

This is what I was referring to, and what exacerbates it is how far we fell, and quickly.

To have your elders watch the club sink hard and gauge their reaction to it, I would imagine it's hard for a 2nd generation (or more) supporter under 25 to feel positive about the football club. That bond has been severed.

It didn't fall quickly it has been a work in progress over two or so decades.
It's just sinking in...

You see.. When you're relying on Pratt money over the money of members.. You're going to feel it when Pratt family withdraw.. And I'm the meantime you didn't have your eyes on the ball... All us little blokes..
So when the screw turns it all goes pop..
And that's where we find ourselves now.
Don't forget to not piss off the mathiesons.. So you can't piss off the mathiesons.. My oh my! You'd have to say mark is in control of this football club now for sure.
For sure mark is an independent... Lol
The mathiesons would have no say.. Mark is the king of the club now...
Putting their end y in the too two free baskets with their lazy program to take us down.. I mean forth.

Mark be an obedient pup or its going to be more horrible...

Oh so basically we're kind of sort of back where we stated before the pokies.
What we made in the pokies we lost in the Pratts and lost members..
But the killer is revenue is going to get harder from pokies...

You really do need a proper plan going forward boys.. This isn't going to cut it..
Squeezed from the right.. Squeezed from the left.. Screw turned here.. Screw turned there.. Where do they have to go?

Can you smell what they're cooking?
I can! What about you?

Collo drove a wedge right down the middle of the club and it has never recovered.
He did it with the backing of the AFL and was cheered on by the Lygon street Pizza makers

Now it's a aAFL CUSTOMISE product...nothing to do with Carlton? Weird

With kids I put a ton of $$ through ...and it's sometimes easier and cheaper to go to Sportsmart
Just a symptom rather than a real beef

Bill, I purchased some merchandise last year and received a 10% discount.

I checked the membership website and it states:

Quote:
Member discounts for official Carlton merchandise at the Carlton Shop

Cheers Jez, I'll use that ...even scarier as I ask just about everytime also!....of course assuming someone is there serving...
Not sure whether to feel cheesed off or stupid!

cheesed off , you should feel cheesed off.

it should be a closing question that every staff member in that shop asks.

'are you a member? yes? excellent ! welcome to the club today, i can give you 10% discount on your purchase today for being a valuable member of our club'

'are you a member? no? would you like to sign up today? I can show you the benefits of being a member which would include 10% off your purchase today'

not bloody rocket science !!

Fair duikum Synners some times I think you have your head so far up your arse you cant see daylight.
Ok the club was mismanaged under Elliott. He made a monumental error of judgment and should have been moved on.
But at least under Elliott the supporter group wasn't fractured. Annoyed disillusioned but not fractured.
Collo alienated supporters of Elliott he should have embraced them and brought the club together.
Pratt tried but unfortunately he died and you had the feeling when he was there things were turning around.
Gone off the rails since

I'm obviously in the minority - I somehow managed to renew my membership without any of the following occurring:

a) Being struck with a cattle prod
b) Having someone from the membership department whisper sweet nothings into my ear over the phone
c) A high ranking club official offering to hold it for me the next time I go to the gents

ill pinpoint the exact time we lost ground

it was when the vfl died and the afl was born...
we died along with the vfl.. even though we wont 1995 .. on the back of the vfl psyche....
and even though we won 2005.. what was the truth is we were dead and we didnt know it yet...but carring inside the body were mutated cells.. cells that were going to make us weak and eventually kill us..
the signs were there that we had better go to the doctor.. but we didnt take any notice of.. we tried to ignore them and lead life as before
it was apparent to everybody around us.. we were getting pretty sick.. and weak... but we continued boozing and smoking and eating bad... and didnt want to see the doctor and cop our medicine.

right now were on our way to intensive care... hurried off in an ambulance...its worrying but were going to be ok in our mind.... ambulance is blaring sirens
will we get there in time??? i doubt it...

Feel the attack on the Pratts is a little over the top.

Blame Sticks who approached them cap in hand about 7 or so years ago.

Didn't hear to many complaints when money started to stream back into the club.

no nobody is btching about pratt,,, its about the pratt syndrome.. silver bullets

if you believe in pratt silver bullets .. you also must believe in the antithesis of the pratt silver bullet

so quickly up can also mean quickly down

correct or not???

simply because nothing great happens overnight

basically im saying if youre going to use silver bullets as a plan.. and youre hoping they catapult you up... you also have to expect theres potential for a dramatic downside....

I think that the so calle "disconnect" is a convenient excuse for supporters who haven't joined - and refuse to join.

They don't feel valued. They don't feel like a membership represents value. What does it even mean to be "disconnected," I've asked people and they can't answer it. They just know they feel disconnected.

The reality is Carlton, as far as I'm concerned, has the most negative, pessimistic, fair weathered, entitled, unrealistic fan base in the league.

If we had come off the season a team such as Port Adelaide had (and they're a terrific example of what I'm about to say) we'd have more members. Not because of better engagement. Not because of a shiny new venue. But because fans would think we're a chance and they'd want to be a part of it. Our fans, like our club, some may say, didn't adapt and evolve to the changing landscape. We don't appreciate how difficult it is to be successful.

I'll cut the likes of Cretylus and Synbad off here by saying port adelaide are a well run, exciting club. And we've made some errors in admin, drafting and the like. But when port weren't good no one wanted a bar of them. Fact. They tarped off seats and couldn't attract sponsors. No one gave two hoots about them, their fans chief amongst that number, until they started winning games.

For mine, Carlton fans are [REDACTED] who have swarmed to this "disconnected" line not as the cop out it is, but the line they yearned for to relieve or excuse them of having to join up.

What Carlton fans want more than anything is wins. They just can't seem to admit thats the missing ingredient. Its engagement. It's not getting a discount in the shop. Its a renewal website (which, as far as I'm aware, is a template site forced on them by the league). It's the fixture (once again, the club can request particular things, but the AFL might choose to ignore them all together). Its game times (too many night games last year. Too many day games this year).

When and if Carlton start winning games more regularly the number will naturally swell. That's it.

People have stated here what they mean by disconnected and provided examples.

I have joined but I completely understand why people haven't.
