..he isnt alone, near every ruck that was good enough to play a lot of senior footy from the beginning of their careers, is now 'injury prone'.. ..it's mismanagement.. ..the more 'durable rucks' are the late bloomers..

Edit--

Last few draft top ten ruck picks

Player games

Krooz 106
Nicnat 108
Leuey 94
Mcevoy 104

And I saw Tom Boyd thrown into the ruck at times on the weekend. A one million dollar a year forward in the infancy of his career is jumping into developed rucks with the potential to do an ACL on landing or PCL with knee to knee contact. All for the sake of "positional flexibility".

I also heard Jack Gunston talking about time in the midfield ... why not play forwards as forward??!!!!

I know we were playing against a much stronger squad, but not a lot to get excited about. Bell, Tuohy, Jaksch and Smith was about it for me. It'd be nice to be able to get excited about young or fringe talent, but the cupboard looks fairly bare.

Curious that others thought Cripps did okay. I thought he was hammered by Priddis. But at least he's got some decent AFL qualities. So he's a chance.

...and we picked up the great Cameron Wood who had played about 65 games in over a decade (and he had a good free run with injuries)

Yes I was surprised I thought this 19 year old kid who has played 4 senior games was going to tear the reigning Brownlow medalists apart

Our deepth is borderline terrible.

They just dont have any tricks, Bell needs to learn to stop and look after he takes a mark and have more patience.

And not try to take on three tacklers every time he gets a clean possession.

His awareness isn't great but I will give him credit for looking for options a few times on Friday.

Unfortunetly, for Bell, there wasn't any most of the time.

When I played U-15s there was a kid in my team who was Samoan and who was enormous. He'd get the ball and simply steamroll anyone who tried to tackle him.

Bell seems to think he's like that.

We need to push forward, our second tier players are just average. Whats wrong with them? why cant they just step it up! Its been the same case for 10 years.

Bell, Curnow, Buckley, Watson and the likes had their chance to help cement a spot in the 22, but they just arnt desperate enough. why?

Bell was a late starter to AFL wasn't he? A soccer player until he was like 15 or so? Suspect this has a lot to do with how his mind is wired. We need to graft Buckley's footy brain into Bell's body.

Not a second tier player. Finished top 5 in the B&F in 2013.

Not elite, but very valuable, particularly given our midfield group.

This Samoan you talk about, has he met Cripps??

GRRR ... sorry ...

I thought it was Kreuz that caused us to have such a pathetic Game Plan against the Eagles. Now I realise it was just all our young kids. :donk: :donk: :donk:
