Interesting comments from Jamison a few days back (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/m ... 41244edc19)

“Carlton teams of five years ago, we were pretty good at moving the ball forward, but once it got turned over, the ball went back over our heads too quickly,” he said.

The stats would suggest Carlton teams of recent times are the same. The 2015 Prospectus states:

Quote:
We hear coaches talk a lot about two-way running. We're not sure there was too much two-way running at the Blues. Across the season they turned the footy over 1347 times - the fourth fewest in the competition - but conceded the fourth-most points from this source. They were the second-easiest team to punish and opposition teams got the fourth-most value out of a Carlton turnover.

Stupid Jamo.
Should have read the damn prospectus.

Micks contract to be discussed at midway mark of season. My predictions:
R1 - Carlton v Richmond - L
R2 - WCE v Carlton - L
R3 - Carl v Ess - W (surely with interrupted pre-season)
R4 - Saints v Carl - W
R5 - Carl v Coll - L
R6 - Carl v Brisbane - W
R7 - Carl v Giants - W
R8 - Geel v Carl - L
R9 - Syd V Carl - L
R10 - Carl v Adel - L
R12 - Carl v Goldcoast - L

4 Wins / 7 Losses. If we went off last years ladder position alone, this would be fairly accurate and probably worst case for Micky and the club. We are going to lose a bit of output from not having Waitey in the forward line. Levi or Hendo really need to stand up this year as a consistent force in the forward line to be damaging against sides.

Worst case should be a 4 / 7 record. Would you extend based on 4/7 in a fairly easy draw? Pack your bags Micky i say.

But, if we are going anywhere, we should beat Richmond, Pies, Adelaide, Geelong, Goldcoast and give eagles a shake over there. Carlton have a all winnable games in first 8 rounds until they play Sydney in round 9. Will be interesting to see how the boys come out. Surely will be motivated to keep Micky around and will snare more than 4 wins in 12 rounds.

Na ... we would have to win less that 2 games in 3 seasons for the master coach to be sacked. On this site alone, imagine the outrage ... the excuses ... the cries of 'he is changing the culture and it takes time' ... can't get Kreuz on the field etc etc etc.

At this point in time I would be happy to send our Collingwood coach back to Collingwood. However ... lets see what he does this year. I think we have recruited ok in the last few years ... with a few stuff ups ... but certainly a better side than we had in 2011.

Really ... there are no more excuses and another year of not making the finals would be a disaster but it won't cause him to lose his job. There is no denying the Madhouse!

"It's like looking out the window every day and there's the mountain. I've never climbed the mountain. Premierships aren't the mountain climb, they're not the top of the tree. I don't know what is, that's the interesting thing, I don't know what it is."

That is my favorite quote from the article. 'I never climbed the mountain'.

Maybe that could be in our marketing slogan. 'Climbing the mountain', but we don't know what that is exactly :)

Micky has got so much more to offer as he has just discovered the corridor, we are even using it in training apparently
You know a back mens favourite saying is, the boundary is your friend

The A4 paper must have detached from the coaches box somehow and given micky a new sense of enlightenment
Mick will now implement a new strategic game plan (hopefully) incorporating this newly found region so we might attack and inflict our own pain to the opposition know that we have also discovered how we get scored against

Just in the nick of time

Let the good times roll

Only two games, but interesting observations from Champion Data's Fantasy Freako:

Quote:
Mick Malthouse coached sides have traditionally used the boundary line to move the ball out of defence. That hasn’t been the case in the NAB Challenge. The Blues have used the corridor region the second-most of any side which could be a sign of quicker ball movement this season.

Unless something disastrous happens Mick will have an extension.
No doubts about that...
Players and most of the board right behind him.

Why are we bothering with Madhouse then?
We need tactics that nobody can predict.

Redback is ahead of the curve!
