I like this, clearly the Guice is doing things his way and not beholden to the factions that Sticks fawned over and they to him.

Nothing else can be read out of Sticks response

The Herald Sun interpretation is that the new President is doing what Bruce Mathieson wants him to do.

Hi Clinton,

The feedback I have heard about this is that the club must be broke to ask for volunteers and that this is not the type of engagement they are looking for. What I hear is people not renewing because their seats have been “re-classified” and increased a lot in price.

Regards
Michael

Thanks Michael

We have over 50 people who have already volunteered their time and we are genuinely trying to reconnect.

I am open to criticism, but there are good people, trying to turn this Club around – and some tough decisions have to be taken along the way.

Our membership pricing was all over the place - and it’s taken me 4 years to put it right. Unfortunately that has meant some people feel they are being ask much more for the same seat – when infact they have been grossly underpaying the market value for that seat. All that said – I appreciate many of those seats were bought when the Club was on its knees.

As of today over 85% of members in the Captains Club Premium category have renewed. We also have a waitlist of members who want to move into those seats – because they do see the value in the seats.

I thought an explanation was in order – I am not defending my decision.

Hope to see you at the footy in 2015.

Kind regards

I have been a member on and off since 1976. I rejoined in 2001 after taking some years off when i had my children.
i go each week and also go to an interstate game. Late last year the other couple i go with decided to upgrade from our general admission membership to a members reserve package. We downloaded to seat request form in October and sent it quickly as we were told seats would be allocated on a first in basis.
We received our membership packages before xmas but are still waiting on our seat allocations. I rang the club last year wondering why we still hadnt been given our seats and was told they had more than usual requests for seat upgrades. Ours would be looked at in the coming weeks so even though we sent our request form in very early we are still waiting.
I guess i have to be patient. My daughter is a Collingwood legends member and she requested new seats for this season. She was phoned a month ago and was given good new seats. Collingwood has double our membership yet they seem able to work through new seating much quicker that we do.

So I figured I'd take the initiative and email other clubs and see what they do at their clubs in regards to member loyalty programs.

* - Email back from Adelaide being all suspicious whether I was from the media, and "escalated to his boss"
* - Email back from Geelong saying they hadn't confirmed it yet and to email back in March.
* - Email back from North- http://membership.nmfc.com.au/recognition-program - that's a pretty good model.

* - Then I got an email back from Essendon*...........

Quote:
Hi Rhino,

I’d be delighted to personally run you through our program at Essendon* FC and happy to meet at EFC* to chat over a coffee or alternatively speak on the phone?

Kind Regards,

Greg

Well at least we can dismiss the standard "Hawthorn do everything better" line

Quote:
Hi Rhino

Thanks for your email.

We do a few different things for our members at Hawthorn.

Firstly we have our loyalty scarves which all members receive and they each have their number of consecutive years of membership ironed onto the scarf.

Members who reach 10 years ,20 years and 30 years of consecutive membership are mailed out a certificate which is signed by our CEO and President.

Member who reach 40 years and 50 years of membership are invited to a loyalty function – normally a morning tea, and they are presented with a certificate.

Kind regards,

I like Norf's access to GF tickets being based on longevity rather than type of membership held. Would address issues with dropping membership numbers considerably I believe. "Why would I want a membership when we're shit, when I can just buy a Captain's Club membership when we get back up the ladder again?"

Club shop discounts are insulting.

Seems Port got our old membership system:

Quote:
Hi Rhino,

Thanks for your email.

At this stage we don’t have a specific recognition program honouring members for consecutive years of membership. However we will be introducing this within the next 2 years, once we are confident we have the correct information in our database.

Milestone years to be recognised are not final but will possibly as follows:

1st Year
5 years
10 years
25 years
40 years

Is it just me or is "red zone" a really awkward name to use?

I'm envisaging rocking up and sitting next to a bunch of highly emotional women eating large blocks of chocolate.

What? Do you think it's for loading and unloading or something?

Kezza i think it has to do with the existing reserved seats dealine being extended to early February.

We both know perfectly well what this is about. You want me to have an abortion.

Phone call I received while on the way home:

"Hello, Wojee speaking"

"Uh, hi. I was after L." (L being one of the kids)

"She's not with me, you've caught me in the car."

"Oh, I probably need to speak to her parents anyway."

"Sure, how can I help."

"It's *unintelligible* from the Carlton Football club."

"Hi"

"We notice that L hasn't renewed her membership and were wondering if there was a reason."

"No reason, we usually renew around her birthday."

"I can help you over the phone, you just need a credit card."

"Thanks, but I usually just do it online."

"Do you want someone to call you back later this evening?"

"No, it's fine, I'll just do it online like I normally do in a few weeks when it's closer to her birthday."

"OK then, someone will call you back. Thanks for your time."

" "
