You trot this line out like a mantra, but I'm curious as to what makes you think we were a better side 4 years ago?

Look ... I hope the Super Duper coach has a brilliant year ....

No you don't. Who are you kidding?

Hmmm ...

I have supported Carlton for nearly fifty years. Now I am getting old and I am not that well ... but I am just hoping we win another premiership soon.

In all that time ... I have never wanted the Blues to lose any matches. Its a black weekend when we do.

Just because the club made a dumb decision IMO recruiting Madhouse does not mean I don't want Carlton to succeed. To succeed in 2015 Madhouse must be a significantly better coach than he has been over the last 2 years. I remain hopeful ... but realistic.

We are stuck with Madhouse ... but every time we win with him in charge I rejoice. Just because I am critical of the clubs dumb decisions and of the Super Duper coaches tactics, does not mean I don't want him to succeed. If Madhouse succeeds ... Carlton succeeds.

Its that simple.

Fair enough. Nicely said.

But that would mean your assessment of Madhouse would be wrong, you wouldn't want that would you?

Hey I have been wrong before just like everyone else. I will be riding every game and hoping that we win like I have always done.

Madhouse has to lift his game but I don't think he can.

Factor in a bit of consideration for the fact that we were on the bottom of the ladder when Ratts took over,
but still, I don't think Mick is quaking in his boots about the lofty standards his predecessor set.

Finals Losses are irrelevant.
I don't give a stuff about choking against the Swans and Lions in the first round - may as well not be there at all.

There you go being rational and level-headed again... :screwy:
But seriously, this.

So we paid a coach a mill per year, paid out the existing coaching panel at significant cost and your expectation is to match the achievements of the previous rookie coach?

Is that the rational and level headed view?

The pro Madhouse group just can't give a good answer ... clutching at the anti Ratten sentiments even though Ratten's team performed much better with less talent. The whole argument is so funny.

So disappointing that we now have to put up with such a dumb appointment ... but we live in hope ... maybe the Super Duper coach can have 1 good year. Lets hope so.

Go Blues.

Ratten = rudd/gillard inherited a surplus ( judd, fevola, number 1 draft picks) and destroyed the list
Malthouse = abbot inherited a deficit ( a list of hacks) and has reconstructed the list. Judge malthouse and the future he bequeathes the club after he has had the same 5 year tenure.

I don't like abbot. Or the next prime minister bishop I don't even like the prime minister after her Priest. .... They're all the same.. As was Gillard Rudd. Though I do like the super tax idea. That should have come in twenty years ago...
Even too little too late it wasn't allowed to come in

Poor long term planning... And will knock Australia down once the commodity and resource bubble has collapsed.
Problem is the culture in this country.. Just as with our club

nothing in blue and white

then again he hasn't done anything to rewrite our record books

well apart from his fat cheque book, out dated game style and childhood behaviour

2015 here we come

lets hope our easy draw can bring the best out of him and maybe sneak us into the finals and a contract extension

One thing I have noticed. To a man and woman throughout the club, supporters/pastplayers/admin etc.

Geriatrics. Those over 50 (sorry moshe) overwhelmingly hate Malthouse. In a bloodlust kind of way. It is completely irrational.

People around the club under 35 have the exact opposite feeling.

So based on this observation, and taking into account that the bulk of our playing list is under 50 years of age, then the perception the geriatrics are giving out is not a true reflection of the actual impact Malthouse is having on the club.

I would much rather a situation where the geriatrics hate the coach than the opposite, where the geriatrics love Ratten and Kernahan and the youngsters are left wondering why the hell are these blokes that geriatrics love here telling us what to do?
