Who cares what any of you think.

The players love Mick. That's all that matters.

I'm convinced some of you prefer we struggle as a club because you haven't got anything else to do but bi'tch on here

It's what this, and any forum, is good at. Plenty of problems, no solutions.....

Comes in dealing with information asymmetry.

Who gives a @#$%&!?
Seriously, some of you clowns must still be at primary school.
I couldn't care if the players cursed him until they fell asleep at night. Malthouses job is to produce a team that will achieve sustained success. Not to be mates with the playing group.
Do you think the current back to back premiership coach gives a damn about whether the players love him? I'd suggest if you asked the successful clubs to write up a criteria for a successful coach, being "loved" by the players wouldn't make the first 100 suggestions.

Yes and no, I can see your point about the "love", I think the word respect is more powerful in a sporting sense.

Having said that, you get nowhere when players don't respect or hate you in a club culture. Its a very important ingredient.

Malthouse has proven just by longevity he knows what he's doing, to have respect is incredibly important. To have the cattle to fulfill the requirements is the most important ingredient for any club environment the vast majority of the time.

Ok, if players love a coach they try their best to the capability they have. Lose the coach and you have no hope.

If a player doesn't have the capability the coach wants when loving him, then they get moved on.

MM is doing that.

Respect and love/hate are totally different. Respect for the role and the person are the key.
The love comments being thrown around are naïve at best.
As for Malthouses longevity, I have no doubts about that. He has proven himself to be a great survivor in a cut throat industry. But there are dozens of great coaches who were great survivors of the game who ended up on the scrap heap.
Relevance and ability to adapt are the challenges for long term coaches. If he proves he can continue to do that, great.

How many great coaches have won flags at shit clubs?

How many shit coaches have won flags at great clubs?

How do I get from point A to point B?

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Its difficult not to comment when you see us slip backwards with a better team than we had 4 years ago.

Time will tell whether Madhouse can actually achieve something ... I hope he can ... though his first 2 years at the club have not been promising.

By the way ... who says the players love Madhouse? Maybe they do ... maybe some of them do? Where is the quantitative evidence of this? Maybe I missed the press release ... Most coaches get a bit of LURV from some some players and not from others. To me ... its irrelevant anyway ... I concur with BV on this.

Malthouse is a cranky old cauliflower so it's easy for people to take pot shots at him, but he's a proven coach.

The list is terrible, IMO. Too many front runners, and a serious lack of KP talent.

We will see next year what's terrible. Your assessment or the list.

Kevin Pietersen?

But seriously ... Kevin Sheedy is a proven coach ... Denis Pagan is a proven coach ... etc etc ... but no one would be appointing them now. Everyone has their used by date. Madhouse has won 1 premiership in 19 years. Stupid appointment right from the start.

Happy to be proved wrong ... sick of Carlton being mediocre and recently one of the laughing stocks of the competition.

Go Bluebaggers ... roll on 2015.

You trot this line out like a mantra, but I'm curious as to what makes you think we were a better side 4 years ago?

Hey Ben,

I think the team we had 4 years ago was far less talented than our current team however that team was brought from a position of hopelessness (bottom of the ladder as you remember) to competing in finals in a very short period of time ... and yet here we sit with 7.5 wins in 2014 and in 2013 we were gifted a finals birth ... we have gone backwards and IMO Madhouse's tactics are outdated and his leadership is currently less than inspirational.

When you look around at impressive modern day coaches like Clarkson and Hinkley and then see the path we've taken ... you just scratch your head in disbelief.

Look ... I hope the Super Duper coach has a brilliant year ... I want the Bluebaggers playing finals football and more ... this year will tell the story.

Bring it on.

OK, so you just think the side from four years ago was less talented, which incidentally was a further four years after we bottomed out. I could just as easily state that the side circa 2009-11 contained a good spread of our better players of recent times who were either in their prime or close to it, and our now either retired or coming to the end.

Hmmm ...

I have supported Carlton for nearly fifty years. Now I am getting old and I am not that well ... but I am just hoping we win another premiership soon.

In all that time ... I have never wanted the Blues to lose any matches. Its a black weekend when we do.

Just because the club made a dumb decision IMO recruiting Madhouse does not mean I don't want Carlton to succeed. To succeed in 2015 Madhouse must be a significantly better coach than he has been over the last 2 years. I remain hopeful ... but realistic.

We are stuck with Madhouse ... but every time we win with him in charge I rejoice. Just because I am critical of the clubs dumb decisions and of the Super Duper coaches tactics, does not mean I don't want him to succeed. If Madhouse succeeds ... Carlton succeeds.

Its that simple.
