iOld for me.

Spot on, Deano.

I might be an old fart - but there's nothing wrong with my eyes.

Watch the '06 Heritage game, then try to tell me that our boys don't look bigger and meaner in the old strip.

And our colour is DARK navy Blue - not 'that's near enough' Beijing bloody blue!

Well why don't we @#$%&! off the Telstra Dome and move back to Princess Park where we were practically unbeatable. While we're at it we can piss off that loser Captain Carlton and bring back Bluey Ruckle. :)
Seriously that old monogram was great at the time and we all have the same wonderful memories but it went out of date with the old material they were pressed on to.

I found this link on the history of changes to our jumper.

http://www.footyjumpers.com/

You have to click on 'Club by club jumpers' up the top, then 'Carlton', then 'Home Jumpers'.

History and brilliance aside, I reckon the 1933-1997 one is the ugliest :?

The heritage jumper last season looked shitloads better than the newer design.

I agree with Pat - I reckon we look bigger and stronger with the heritage one.

I like the 98-05 version...with the notches. I'd also prefer to see the monogram raised on top of the guernsey.

i cant even remember us using the pre-97 one and i still reckon it looks better than the one we've got going now but i think the pre-97 one needs to be modified a tad to make it look more modern and professional.

Good grief. Tell me he's at least a Carlton supporter.

There has been more than one guy who has donned the uniform. Can't remember who he went for but he is a lot shorter than the original CC and was a gun at gymnastics. (nearly made the team for the commonwealth game)

re: people that say the pre-98 guernsey looks like it was sewn on by nanna... what about the heritage round one?

The Heritage Round guernsey looks great... and has a more modern feel to the proper logo. That is a compromise of sorts.

When I say Heritage.. I mean the Heritage guernsey they wore to the last game at Princes Park... That should be the jumper 100% of the time as it is the same format as the proper jumper.. just raised a bit... in heritage rounds if they want they can wear that one with the yellow bit on it.

I would feel such pride to see the proper guernsey again.

The new one lacks imagination and is small. Like others have said it signifies our darkest days...

Interesting reading over some of the earlier responses to Jack's OP.

using the http://www.footyjumpers.com/ site these are the three main concepts being discussed and in my order of preference.

1977-1997

1998–2005

2006–

The treatment of the notchless monogram on the current jumper is terrible. I'd be happy with either of the other two options.

The old monogram all the way. Loved the Heritage jumper when on the couple of times we wore it during the season.
This is the real Carlton. Has to be raised no painted on rubbish.

Went to training today, and bought a replica of the heritage jumper, the knitted one with the sewn VFL patches. So nicely presented in a box. $150, love it. It even smells like I remember, like the duffel Coates. Bought me back to my childhood, when I lived in that jumper.
