I don't believe his list management strategy is wrong, it's setup for early pain and a long period of sustained success. You simply cannot blame him for players wanting to leave. That's a club problem

They could possibly have taken a couple of more mature recruits but it's not like they didn't try I.e in our case Kreuzer. What they weren't willing to do was fill the list with shittrucks like what happened with bears.

He clearly "sold" his vision to the board openly knowing there would be early pain and let the club build the vision and culture to keep the players there.

I'm more uncomfortable with the fact his kids will be there when he has to make the key decisions on who to keep and who to cull.....

Maybe a side that already has around 30 players drafted with top 20 picks.

Such a high pick for someone who turns 30 in December. Madness.

Bringing back SOS to the club will do wonders for the club.

Yeah I'm happy to be proven wrong but at this juncture I just haven't seen enough in isolation to prove he can do the job well at this critical moment in our list renovation. Seems like a perfect storm that he will be coming to us though - little to no other options, a former club champ...it's what we do. The conflict of interest will be clear but I'd hope there's enough professionalism around the club now to not gift current or future players anymore.

After seeing what happened with Hird at Essendon*, rightly or wrongly I never want to see any past favourite sons become coach, president, or any large role at Carlton.

Saw what happened with Sticks as president, people fondly remember his playing days and he stays around far longer than he should. Then it causes divisions in the supporters.

No matter how good he is, I don't want him at the club for this reason alone.

I'm sure that McKay will not be influenced at all by the fact that SOS is a former teammate.

Yep, the inevitable breakup is much easier when it's not a favorite son.

We should just get the best people. and from evidence shown SOS wouldn't be one of those.

Their list building strategy has the jury out as its possible they could be in this perpetual cycle of losing players for picks, then losing those players gained and on and on.

Could end up just being a nursery, but the advantage for other clubs is they will be willing to pay overs for experienced talent.

Mr Dane, were you not aware that Mr Pelchen was originally at Port Adelaide? Do you want to hear some stats?

I feel like my answer won't have any bearing on your decision to post stats.

Mr Dane, are you saying that you and the majority of other people just roll straight over my posts because they are full of the same repetitive nonsense?
