I wonder what he'll have in his bag of tricks other than "kick the @#$%&! ball to me"?

1. "Pressure point, pressure point"
2. "Show us yer tits"
3. "Hey. See that fire hydrant? Let's..."
4. "Outta my way you big Irish flower or you'll find my stop marks all down yer flower back!"
5. "Outa my way you big skinny long-armed stuck-on-99-games flower or you'll find my stop marks all down yer flower back!"
6. "Ten grand on number 4 please, mate. What's that? Yep, put it on my tab"

CARLTON won’t make a call on Mick Malthouse’s future until “later next season” and the Blues aren’t rebuilding, new chief executive Steven Trigg tells Jon Anderson in an exclusive Q & A.

MS3 from BF has posted that the club and Mick have agreed to a new 3 year deal. No contract will be signed in the immediate future as both parties want to see how things transpire in the early part of next year. Both parties comfortable with this decision.

Sort of doesn't make sense.

A Claytons commitment.

Details agreed but conditional on how next year progresses? Makes sense.

Agree, I don't have a problem with it.

The issue is imbeciles such as Jon Ralph. Who was on the radio demanding an extension for Malthouse to be done before the commencement of next season otherwise there would be a 'media circus'. He said this without a trace of irony.

Of course he's part of the same media who have lynched the likes of Adelaide and the Bulldogs for doing exactly what he demands Carlton should do... Re-commit to a coach with 12 months still remaining on a contract.

Unbelievable.

I like it, if the players want MM they'll be nothing but committed to get him contracted when it actually matters. If they're not committed then it's clear it won't happen.

Could be leading from the front in how things should be done for a change

So, it really depends on MM's performance, but to save face for MM,
it has to be seen to work both ways??
Otherwise, what...
if we don't perform well, MM won't be happy?
It will be the players and other staff member's fault?
I am a bit puzzled still.

It seems pretty simple to me BG, if those inside the club see the group continue the late season trajectory, they execute the agreement. If it's not working out, they don't.

Mick isn't MLG's hire, isn't Trigg's hire. I'm confident he will be judged fairly on his merits as coach of the team.

May as well forget the contract and just put him on a weekly wage...

Absolutely, if it was one way, it would make sense.
It's the bit where it is also up to MM thai is intriguing.

Probably because Mick has said countless times if he feels he ever loses a playing group he will resign ASAP

I think he has them too. I was more or less implying that if things don't continue from our end of season form & the players don't continue to buy in, Mick will probably think the players aren't keen on him.

I can't see any other reason why he'd choose not to go on. He's clearly happy to continue coaching, it just depends on the group's mentality & attitude.
