In retrospect a very disappointing season overall
A shocking start -finals prospects over by April -losing many games by small margin -given list really disappointing to end 13 th
Lost to GWS Melbourne Brisbane
Confused or inability to play gameplan which we started with at the beginning of the year
Refusal of management and coaching staff that we need to rebuild
Too slow to introduce new blood in the team took until 75 percent of season gone to play new players
Some individual successes that everyone has set out above on playing list but overall very ordinary

Good summation - disappointing season. Finished stronger. I hope the club sees where we really are and we get on with the task of rebuilding the club and stop living in the past and concentrate on the future.

Rohan Connolly sums it up in The Age...

CARLTON
(13th: 7 wins, 14 losses, 1 draw)
Rating 5/10

At 4-10 after round 15, Carlton's season was resembling a train wreck. Yet while the Blues still managed to win only three of their remaining eight games, things didn't look quite as apocalyptic by the close of proceedings.

Carlton ended up with good wins over North Melbourne and Gold Coast on the run home, pushed Fremantle and Geelong to within a kick, and drew with Essendon*. The Blues lost six games by 12 points or less.

Bryce Gibbs finally came of age as a quality midfielder. Sam Rowe made his mark as a quality key defender. Troy Menzel now looks a very handy long-term bet as a dangerous smaller forward. Recruits Andrejs Everitt and Sam Docherty played a decent part. And biggest-name recruit Dale Thomas had started to turn a significant corner towards the end.

But coach Mick Malthouse still has some big decisions to make now about the futures of a number of Carlton's most experienced players, with Mitch Robinson, Jeff Garlett and Jarrad Waite all under the microscope.

yes dane thank you -said there was some individual successes and we can talk and have done about Rowe etc but lets call it as it was a disastrous season collectively for 150 years celebration of being in competition - sitting here on the eve of the finals with our team 13th and a team like the tigers who we beat in last years finals playing on Sunday -extremely disappointing and we should make clear it is unacceptable

Really noticeable over the last 8 weeks was the improved Attitude and determination, starting to play as a team, everyone pulling their weight for a change.

We survived without Eddie Betts and will survive without Jarad Waite. With he and Robbo likely to go, a lot of the dumb flower being purged from the list.

Some great posts here, but I also think we may have found more leaders around the CFC, such as:

- Sam Rowe
- Gibbs (not before time)
- Buckley
- Docherty
- Sheehan
- Menzel
- Daisy

Bring on 2015!

well said. Losses to GWS, Melbourne, Brisbane were unacceptable.

If anything, the playing list has gotten worse through the season as injuries have hit - yet we have still managed to play good football late in the year. It showed that our list, even when heavily depleted with injuries is strong enough to match it with many of the top 8 sides.

The issue was that it took way too long for the team to hit it's straps - that is the responsibility of the coaching panel.

I'm quite positive that our playing list is of a decent standard - that was the entire point of the post :)

This doesn't excite me as much as it should because of Massie, Vance, Livingston, Wiggins & Sporn.

Gee not much when you are 13 th, but positives were Gibbs becoming the player we all wanted, Rowe surprising us all by becoming a solid defender with great character. Everitt and Docherty good, Casboult improving, Menzel classy and Buckley showed heaps. Sheehan. Bell cd take a big step fwd next yr. We know how great Juddy is, he has been great all his career. New president is possibly the most important , his role? Nothing much, just to save the club from Ingrained mediocrity, lets hope he's the man. More negatives than positives as one wd expect from our ladder position, but keep those for the negative thread

Three guys in the AllAust squad...hang on, two of them don't play for us anymore.....
