Sucks that Gibbs thought there was 3 minutes left when he had the shot.

But isn't that typical of the communication - thought mick and wiley should have been a bit more wily than that.

Wily Wiley?

Had a similar chat to my 16 year old Essendon* supporting nephew this morning.

Him: "we didn't have Carlisle yesterday".

Me: "Walker wasn't playing so Carlisle wasn't needed anyway".

Later on...

Him: "I'm going to try to get tickets for next week, I thought the game would be on Saturday or Sunday though, not Saturday night".

Me: "Have you been to a finals game before". (I've taken him to the 2012 Prelim Final and 2011 Elimination final  ).

Him: "Yeh, that final between Hawthorn and Adelaide".

Me: *Smirks*

10 seconds later...

Him: "Oh shuttup you prick".

Later on again....

Him: "We didn't have David Myers yesterday either".

Me: "Oh, well you'd have won by 15 goals if Myers had played".

Hard to judge if they don't exist, have to say Thomas earns half his money in on- field speeches

Good effort yesterday from a very undermanned team who kept fighting even when 30 points behind could have been a smashing
Need to learn how to win close ones and if we played with that effort and grit earlier in the year would have been immeasurably better season
Good to see watto perform so well hope this is the catalyst for the uptick in his career
Another game into Menzel Cripps and Sheehan we need them all to come on next year
Good to see yarran continue to try to create even though obviously debilitated has had a good season
Judd brilliant game
Casboult continues to tease difficult to get a gauge on where he is at
What to make of Brock -very good yesterday but still slow
Waite didn't do much and club is right offering one year deal
Wood I suspect has won himself a spot on list next year
Thought Simmo was down yesterday and Rowe wasn't so good and Gibbs also not so good as last few weeks
Jamo was pretty good and has had a good year

Need big pre season and bloody good trade/ draft period

After that abysmal second quarter I told my mate I would leave if the lead got out to 30 points as my wife was expecting me home by 5.

When the lead did get out to 30 points I told myself actually more than 30 points.

When I got home I was wishing I had left.

Let's hope the AFL stick to this and don't change the goal posts again. I have a sneaking suspicion they don't have the interest of Carlton at heart.

3 double meetings against 13-18 teams would be ideal and is what I am hoping for most with the draw.

No more than 1 meeting against all top 6 sides would also be good.

If Hawthorn can get the exclusive Tasmanian deal, the exclusive Waverley Deal and all other benefits from the AFL, it is about time the AFL does something for Carlton instead.

I reckon some might be making the concept of getting a message around to most players on the MCG (while probably trying to get other messages out also) with 60000 screaming fans seem a little bit more simplistic than it actually is in practice.

if we need a good fixture to make the eight, we're going nowhere! we only play 5 teams twice, for godsake. based on this years result, most of those teams will be above us. do we wanna play Melbourne twice? (they beat us!) GWS? (they beat us too!). play anyone anywhere anytime, that must be out attitude.

The fixture doesn't matter a jot since we always play up or down to the level of opposition (except Port Adelaide, apparently).

Stopping a team who get a run-on is a leadership and concentration issue IMO, particularly when you've already built a handy lead yourselves.
