So what people are saying is there are reasons for bullying? Is that right?

So if someone is not good at their job or insecure or asks a stupid question it is then okay to belittle them or treat them with contempt? Is that what some on here are saying?

Is it also okay for MM to speak to some people the way he does because he is a Senior Football coach and dealing with the media is not his primary role and he doesn't like doing it?

FFS

Must be great to be so intellectually superior you can treat anyone the way you want no matter what the repercussions.

No need to get hot about it Psych.

Just a difference of opinion.

The media is precious.

That's the opinion of the threads I have read, not just on here. I am asking the question? No matter what the reasons I think it's a disgrace.

All I read is people "justifying" why it was okay for him to treat people the way he does. IMO there is no reason for such treatment. Just imagine if he spoke to someone close to you the way he does to Stevens etc?

I am not justifying the way he speaks to most journalists, but stevens is another story. Stevens was baiting him, and has done so on numerous occasions. In my opinion he deserves what he gets.

That's wrong. Bottom six is not mid-tier.

Very long bow, bro. I certainly don't think Stevo is that intellectually superior to his other journo mates (though he's a slick looking dude) and I suppose his baiting and sarcasm is a form of bullying.

Bottom six gets the easy draw.

Sadly for us, we struggle against the lower teams.

Still not the issue.
Belittleing and engaging just drags MM and therefore our club, down to his crap level.
no good.
FWIW I bloody hate seeing the journos at the presser, and the whole way they do it now on 7.

First it was Sam Lane, then it was Lingy, and now its Stevo.
Notice the trend ?
7 has settled on an Agenda of 'Grumpy Mick goes bananas'
and push the story about the bad treatment of their journos by him
because it keeps them in the news between games.
Watch Mr 'Say that again' Luke Darcy have a crack at Mick on Talking Footy tonight to keep the story rolling.
Rucci and even Fat Robbo see it for what it is. A Ch 7 pushed agenda against him!!!
Joke of a network!!

Maybe but whatever the reason there is no excuse for the way MM treats people. NONE.

Nah he is merely reacting to people who you should think have no excuse treating our coach that way. ( that would be the dh from ch7).

Totally out coached against Port, Carlton brought the effort, but Hinkley teared Mick's gameplan to shreds in the 1st qtr and the game was over. Amazing how good Port have transformed in to a power house from being a bottom 3 side two seasons ago. List hasn't changed much at all. Only one thing has changed though :)

Yep, a team with zero injuries pushing for a top 4 position beating the team sitting in 13th and missing 6 of their starting 18 comes down to coaching.

There was a time not so long ago when there was nothing better than going to watch Carlton play when they were riddled with injuries.
It was backs to the wall stuff and you knew yhe youngster's would get in and have a go abd usually win.
Now they chuck in yhe towel play for free kicks abd generally make excuses as to they lost

I think mick has a very valid point regarding this. The strength ,fitness , physicality of our modern game blows away the game and players of yesteryear. The season is long and in many respects, is a war of attrition. Usually teams have injuries, they are a given, therefore you either are blessed with minimal injuries or you have to have the depth to cover them when they occur. But even great sides will struggle when they have significant key injuries. Add to this, the pressure that great depth puts on players already in the side, and you have a multifactorial reason why we failed ...port had virtually a full list to choose from

Injuries an excuse for a 100pt loss. I think hawthorn has more key injuries than most this season and in top 4.

Ratts had a shocking run of injury in 2012 and just misssed out the finals. Got the sack. We are not even close this year to the finals and had a pretty decent run with injuries. Judd and kruzer the only major injury plagued players all season. Spare the injury crap

You have a very valid point about 2012, injuries were a contributing factor. Fwiw i believe that this year the following other players have been playing with significant injuries
Hendersen
Walker
Touhy
Then there are the players actually missing v port

When I was in year 12 there was a particular year 7 kid who used to come and bait us while we played basketball. Over the course of the first term he was put upside down in a bin and sat up on the basketball ring among other things. He came back every few days and continued baiting for most of the year and appeared to revel in his notoriety.

I wonder if he's a footy journo now.

Bullying you say!
Lets get it straight here

1.Mick has NO option , he is obliged/forced/expected to do these interviews by the afl contractual arrangement stemming from the sale of the tv rights. Big dollars rules ok? So he is stuck in this fish bowl after every match whether he likes it or not.( yes he gets the big $ too)

2 Channel 7 in particular have unscrupulously tried to sensationalise what used to be a simple way for the coaches to communicate with the public about their team and their efforts. This used to be covered in an amusing and convivial atmosphere many years ago on a sunday afternoon on world of sport. Now it is merely a continuation of the gladiatorial spectacle. The coaches are still to get back into normal adrenaline levels and really just want to be with their players. But they are stuck in the fish bowl.

3 unscrupulous media hacks who have all week to concentrate on their little moment in the sun after every match, have a golden opportunity like shooting fish in a barrel to create sensationalistic, opportunistic headlines. They have little else to concentrate on other than how they can create headlines by interacting with the players and coaches.
Mick on the other hand lives and breathes football not interviews. Football ie the players and strategy and injury management, and development and opposition analysis and selection and management of assistants and a whole lot of other stuff occupies his mind for 99.5% of the time

4 mick out of all the coaches is a known quantity. He is the most predictable out of all the coaches because he is opinionated and he has been around for as long as jock mchale. That makes him the go to target. Lazy journalists can more easily predict the way mick will reacte because he is a known quantity. Better bang for their hourly buck if you like. Why put time into a hinkley who we dont really know yet when we can just go to our ever predictable mick.

Do you honestly think that Mick is the bully here?

Look, I respect your right to have an opinion.

I just think you're a complete and utter @#$%&! moron for having it. I mean, @#$%&! me, how did you come to that conclusion? Me? Bullying people? You have to be deadset thick to think that. Much like the recruiting team at this club. But they deserve all the abuse they get.

Seriously though, you have that opinion again, I will stab you in the kidney with a fully sharpened HB pencil and will sit back and enjoy the graphite based led substitute infiltrating your vital organs. You'd deserve nothing less for an opinion of such a weak nature. I hope you get some sperm frozen for your loved ones to create a legacy for you after you die from it, but realistically, with an opinion that @#$%&! dense and stupid, but also stupidly dense, I'd kinda wish harm on them too.

If someone in the Carlton comms department is reading this... make it happen.
