Quote:
Malthouse said Judd had “bounded” into his office this week to tell him he had changed his mind about retiring, confiding in the coach that “this was the best he felt at the football club is seven years”.

“That’s not necessarily physically, but more the direction we’re heading,” Malthouse said.

“He feels as if we’ve established a game structure that suits the game and the players. The players are starting to grow, the leadership is expanding... and he sees the growth of the organisation and wants to be part of it."

Either Mick is pasting on the mayo (and Judd is happy to go along with that),

or *maybe* Mick is actually doing some things right at the club

Some certain people are very noticeable in their absence lately?

Could they be wrong about MM or is there nothing they can complain about recently?

Interesting.

They will try and find something, but actually it is quite amusing reading their tripe.

Solid first half - should be in front with some decent kicking. Great work by Murphy and Gibbs - quality. Our footsoldiers will be the difference. Be interested to know what Yarran's instructions are. Some of his decisions that quarter were baffling.
We are in the game but I suspect Geelong's class will tell in the end.

We have made enormous strides under Mick this year, beating the likes of the eagles, doggies, saints twice , Kangaroos, gold coast, crows,

A very impressive list of scalps.

And we havent won more than 2 games in succession during this season.

Even the TIgers have managed a streak of 7 wins,

Great year - very great

Im not a Malthouse fan....................

However, he has had some bad luck with injuries this year and in fact, i don't think we've fielded our best 22 once all season.

Psych, i suspect most wd concede MM has been a very effective coach over his career. Does that mean he still is? The jury is clearly out. We compare him with Ratts. Why? He is and should be miles better. Ratts had no experience, and was a jobs for the boys apptmt and paid way less. At the moment we have been ordinary for two years. Much as we have been quite good recently, wins and close loses at the back end when finals are gone is small consolation. We will be about 13 th this year, our membership is down, our crowds are down. As a very highly paid and credentialled coach i can't see how he is an unqualified success. Next year he needs to get us to about eigth, improve membership significantly and crowds. Coaches on huge dough need to be effective right across the club, and he needs to work on off field charm, it comes with the territory. Too often we proclaim the messiah, and coming 13th with membership and crowds dropping is a fail. Maybe we are building something, next year will tell. There were a lot of fans bouyed in 2004 and rapt when we extended Pago, that didn't turn out so well. MMs contract should be reviewed this time next year and not before. Hopefully brave losses to the cats, the dockers, gws brissy and the dees, will actually all be wins next year. We have the talent to be finalists next year. The worry is that 4 or 5 of our best players are near the end and the mid/long term is not so rosy.

If we had Miles we would win 7 in a row too. :smoking:
