Now DOA can you just settle my thumping heart with that stuff about Sheedy and indigenous players.

NO, not while I draw breath. I named my two best stud bucks after Andrew Walker. My two year old son worships Andrew Walker. He can never leave. He can never ever entertain the thought.

Now tell him that from me.

Spot on WBY.

If we were ever to lose AW to Sheedy's evil clutches...why I'd...I'd...

AW's played, what, 33 out of a possible 44 games?
Or 33 out of 40 after making his debut.
Would he have got those opportunities at another club?
Adelaide, Brisbane, Freo, West Coast, Port, St Kilda: doubtful.
Geelong, Melbourne, Roos, Doggies, Essendon*, Sydney: possibly
Carlton, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Tigers: probably.
I think The Game's point has some merit.
But yes, we're never to know, thank God.
I also think Andrew's going to be a jet and he's one of the reasons it's been worth going to the footy for the last two years.
But I do think that he's been given every opportunity, and I'm looking forward to seeing that game time come to fruition.

Loves Carlton and wants to be a one club player, money will never be an issue for Andy, but,he plays in an industry and can be traded like any player.
As an aside, I notice so many kids at games with CFC jumpers without a #,
I believe the reason is that due to the "industry"(trades, delisting etc.)most kids and parents are reluctant to commit a # due to the very nature of the AFL.Players coming and going destroys the heart /soul /fabric of Clubs.

That's great to hear that Andrew is very much committed to the club, DOA.
Sure he hasn't come on as some of the other draftees have, but like others have said he is one of our more talented players at the club.

He's not just any player tho. He was our first early pick after Black Friday. So he's embodied hope for a lot of supporters. And he's an early pick who can play, which was nice after the past 10 years of recruiting.
Carlton would lose twice as many memberships over trading AW as Fev, I reckon.

Agree with you on the numbers. Players come and go so quickly, change numbers so often, it's not worth it. Although the English premier league supporters have the mentality that you buy a new shirt every year. Here, you've got more cred if you've got AVCO still as the sponsor on your jumper, or CUB.

I don't think anyone at the Club would be thinking about AW being moved on, he's only just finished his second season. He's an investment. Unfortunately, as AFL is such a business now, sometimes it's more profitable to cash in an investment as opposed to hanging on to it, which is feasible at some point in the future, but I wouldn't like it.

I can imagine how distraught I would've been as a kid in '88 if Silvagni was shipped off for Lockett and Roos for example.

DOA, I've hit upon the solution for the whole # problem:

Get me to iron them on the kids jumpers.

I don't know what it is, but if i do it you can guarantee that after two months they'll peel right off and have to be replaced.

At this rate, my kids can have a six players each a year.

It's hard to find heroes and young AW is one, both my boys proudly display the number 1 on their 6 and 2 year old jumpers. We wait for the next couple of year with baited breath,

You should be very proud of your boy DOA, we all are!

DOA dont be put off by the minority here - we love andrew and dont want him going anywhere !!

We know he will be an absolute gun and will help lead us back to where we belong !!

When my new house is finally built a framed #1 guernsey will be going up in the theatre/games room with a photo of andrew from his debut game ( yep the hanger that he dropped - but awesome leap none the less)

if only it was signed .............. 8)

Married actually with three kids -things are bit rough at home at moment and I reckon that CC looks easy.

Yeah, I agree with SB here but we're not getting married. I'm too busy in Parliament...besides, SB, I'm sure I'm taller than you. I'm 6'8" and bald and about 50-odd, a bit old for you mate.

Keep thinking what you like Surrey, if you don't want to accept the fact that your logic is nonsensical, then I can't stop you.

Don't slam the door on your way out Campo... Oh, and hold the door open for lappin as well...

We don't need these 2 at the club with attitudes like that. But we are going to struggle for some time yet.

Good to here he likes the place. It's sad how the players have become assets to be traded and/or disposed of so easily by clubs, but I guess with list sizes shrinking over the last several years clubs are forced to dismiss with sentiment.

Lil' Miss Wojee adores Fev, and I would've gotten 25 on her jumper this season but for the trade speculation. It's getting to the point where each club only has a handful of genuine "franchise" players whose name is synonymous with the club and when I look at Carlton I can see two or three at the most.

DOA, pay no mind to some on here.

Personally, I love watching Andrew play, his effort against Aker last season was a pearler of a game and I hope to watch him play for the Blues for many years to come

Whatever. As stated, he's a good talent. Makes sense clubs would want him.
